I used a scan tool on my vehicle and got an EVAP code. Went to check the gas cap and lo-and-behold… My gas cap was literally bouncing around behind the door! I have no idea how it happened since I filled it up one state away from my house and I heard it click once. This OEM factory replacement might cost x3 more then others but is guaranteed to function correctly, NO MATTER the vehicle it is attached to (given that you attach it to a compatible vehicle). I have not has an issue, or a code on my vehicle since. Thanks ACDelco!

This gas cap works perfectly on my 01 grand prix gt. Looks slightly different than the original. I replaced mine because the tether broke and was tired of dropping the cap (or watching the gas attendant drop it). Using a pair of wire cutters, I had to slightly trim the ‘arrow’ tip of the tether to get it to fit into the hole in the gas door in the quarter panel. It’s in now and it’s secure.

Once again, Amazon comes through with exactly the right part for one of my cars, the 2003 Old Silhouette minivan (same as Chevy Venture and Pontiac Montana). Of course now, several weeks later, they’ve dropped the price by 30%, but hey, it was still the best totally reputable deal available on the exact AC Delco part at the time, and fit exactly. Including how the tether attaches, though I suspect I could have made the other tether option (cheaper at the time, about the same now) work. I figured that having to possibly mess with the cap every time I fill it, wasn’t a good way to try saving 7 bucks or whatever

Fixed my evap system leak. Error code P402 on GM vehicles. Suggest you do some tests before just buying one though. If you have the error code, then take a small amount of oil and lubricate your o-ring inside your gas cap. Reset your error code (SES or service engine soon light). Your engine computer will test for small leaks under limited conditions (fuel between 1/4 to 3/4 and coolant temp below 120 and ambient temp above 40 but below 85 and throttle position less than 50%). If you drive for a week after oiling o-ring and no error returns, it is more than likely your gas cap. Buy one to fit your car. This was a perfect fit for my Pontiac Grand Prix 2002

I bought this ACDelco GT279 GM gas cap on Jan 14, 2017 for a 1998 Buick Regal LS. So far no problems. This gas cap was made in Germany and seems to be of good quality. Will update if it fails. I had to get this to replace one that I bought for $12 at an auto shop, because that one was very hard to turn when I try to put it back on after getting gas. This ACDelco one turns very easily. A good working gas cap get rid of the “Check Engine Soon” message. I am afraid to recommend anything, because things are not made with quality in mind anymore. Like most other things, buy at your own risk!

This part was an exact OEM replacement for my 2003 Pontiac Montana and has performed satisfactorily for the past month. . A word of warning, however……Make sure that no one inside the vehicle opens the left rear sliding door while refueling the car with the gas cap removed. The rearward action of the door movement will strike the cap and break the tether strap attached to the cap requiring replacement. This is what happened to me and the reason a replacement cap was required.

Purchased my Olds Intrigue used, didn’t notice that the gas cap wasn’t original until I ordered this. Was wondering what that ‘small’ slot was for until I received this – it’s for the cable/catch so you don’t lose the cap. And it fits just right, ‘clicks/locks’ just right.
I’ve learned over the past couple of years to search Amazon for dealer parts instead of local dealers/etc. I won’t bore you concerning more details but the entire headlight assemblies for my car for both around $102!! I don’t need them replaced as I’ve found out, but this is so cheap!!

Boy am I ever glad that I found this gas cap. My elderly mother needed it for her old Buick, when the original cap broke after years and years of use. The newfangled cap that the local store sold us is way too hard to open! It’s made like those annoying medicine bottle caps, where you have to push and turn at the same time to remove it, and Mom just could not manage that at all and it was difficult for me, my brothers and sisters, even the mechanic at the local gas station had a hard time opening it. Whose bright idea was it to do that with a gas cap anyway. But thank goodness ACDelco had the old version that is just like the original one! It fits perfectly and is easy for all of us to use. Thank you, ACDelco! Please don’t stop making the old fashioned ones!
