Stock G8 AC/Delco filter, easy to replace with included instruction sheet (just reverse it as the instructions are for the Australian right hand drive VE series car).
Fit perfectly, went in without a hitch, just make sure that you push down the bottom of the filter to make sure it is all the way down (as it can hang up), and then push in the sides and top.
Did not buckle for me, fit perfectly. Not sure the issue with the other commenter.
One more thing, make sure you vacuum out any leaves before removing the old filter and then clean the intake area with a wet cloth as dirt can build up outside the filter and in the drain area just below the filter (but in the filter compartment).
Not as easy as some cars, but not as hard as others, but there is great access to the air intake so it can be cleaned and with the filter removed, you can see the blower fan right behind it.
UPDATE 1 – 12-2013
Bought 2nd filter direct from Amazon again. Fit perfect again, no complaints.
The design of the car is what causes the filter fit to be a little odd, as it relies on the filter to apply pressure on the top, bottom, and sides to hold it in place. There is a small guide (thin plastic wedge) that guides the bottom into place, but you have to push in on the sides and top to get it to fit into the slots it is intended to go into. The key is to get the filter all the way down to the bottom for it to fit right.
Just like last time, filter is marked with “Holden” logo, and instructions say “Holden” on them and show install in right hand drive car (so you have to reverse it for our cars in USA and Canada).
While the filter was out, I did spray “frige fresh” into the blower fan (which is visible with filter out and recirculate off) while the fan was on to disinfect the system.
Filter is plain paper (no charcoal) just like OEM one is plain paper.

This cabin air filter is the way to go, It fit’s perfect. I installed it in my 09 Pontiac G8 and just like the reviews stated the fit was perfect. It went in just like it should nice and snug. I used a shop vac to remove any debris before I removed the old filter. I then took some all purpose cleaner and wiped the inside of the area where the filter goes. It does get pretty dirty there. I just got the car a couple of weeks ago and the filter that was in it was very dirty.

If you have a Chevy SS sedan / Holden Commodore VF this appears to be the only cabin filter that fits correctly. I have tried two different non-OEM ones (usually meant for Pontiac G8 / Holden VE and on first sight, appear to be the same shape/size. However, it doesn’t take much to bow the filter once its installed resulting in reducing the filtering ability by allowing unfiltered air to sneak past the edges due to poor fitment.
One of the main reasons for the poor fitment of the aftermarket ones is the filtering media. The pleats on OEM one runs vertically and has about 52 pleats. Some aftermarket cabin filters the media run horizontally and have about 40 pleats and slightly thicker. This doesn’t allow for the filter to bend correctly to conform to the fan box opening resulting in gaps along the sides.
So, yes. The OEM one costs about twice the amount but it does the job correctly. Plus it has the Holden logo so you know it’s the right one!

This cabin air filter is an exact OEM replacement for the Pontiac G8. As others have mentioned, the filter is a little difficult to install due to the design of the housing. This is not a problem with the size of the filter though. I had to take the filter out and reinstall it a few times before I could get it to seat just right, but the whole job took less than 15 minutes. The instructions are easy enough to follow if you reverse the diagram since it’s drawn for the Australian Holden. There is also a good video on carcarekiosk.com. This is an easy job – no reason to go to the dealership.
