Bought my 2003 Buick LeSabre used and found only the paper filter without the supporting frame, stuffed into the cabin air port. This is located by opening the hood, look toward your left at the top passenger side of the firewall, below the wiper – you’ll see the two plastic squeeze tabs that opens the black plastic door that’s about the size of your hand, to get to the cabin air filter.
Inside, I found the cabin air filter assembly with the plastic mount was missing. It only had the paper filter uselessly stuffed in there. Lots of dirt and mildew with gaps, making it useless for filtering air. I cringe at what might be inside the cabin air ducts inside the car. More so, I saw in a YouTube on how to replace the cabin air filter, the guy actually doing the same thing, stuffing the paper filter in there without the plastic frame mount that’s supposed to be holding the filter.
You really need this plastic filter mount assembly for the paper filter if you DON’T ALREADY HAVE ONE. All you have to do, is if it’s missing, you buy this new product. It slides and snaps right in place – it’s not going anywhere. See the part in the photo with the wide part of the filter with the surrounding gray foam gasket? That’s the part that faces down and slides in first, until it firmly snaps into place.
After that, in the future when the filter is dirty, you should only need to replace the paper filter part – unless you want to rip out the whole thing and put in a new assembly instead of just the paper filter.
Check your car first. Open that little black door/lid with the squeeze tabs and look. If all you see is a paper filter, pull it out and clean out that entire port area, then buy this product to install as a complete assembly. If you see a plastic frame in there, you likely don’t need to buy this product. Just buy the paper filter and replace that part.
My guess was the previous owner had it replaced by an idiot who tried to take out the plastic frame and broke the original. He must have just stuffed the filter in and figured no one would notice after a few years.

I’ve been driving my 05 Bonneville for 2 yrs without a cabin air filter. I really don’t think they are “necessary” as cars now a days don’t even come from the factory with them. I posted on a forum about smelling a “musty” odor when I turn on my air conditioner and one member suggested I check the cabin air filter. Well, I went to check it and there wasn’t one there, not even a bracket. So, to calm my OCD, I went on a hunt for a bracket/filter. It didn’t take much searching before I found this one on Amazon. Its a perfect fit for the designated spot for it! The shipping was super fast (I ordered at 10 at night and I had it by noon the next day). It took less than 5 min for me to install it. As one reviewer mentioned, it is a snug fit at first, but with a little force it popped right in. Make sure you push it back far enough that the little pin on the left side of the bracket fits in the catch hole to hold it in place. I don’t think It would move around much if you didn’t, but I believe if you don’t push it back far enough, its not sitting in the exact position to work properly. So, with that said, my OCD feels better, hopefully my car won’t get as dusty on the inside and it will smell a tad better. I sprayed some “air freshener” on my filter after installation to give my car a super nice smell on the inside! I would definitely recommend this filter to anyone.

The ACDelco CF140 Cabin Air Filter arrived within the delivery date range estimate, was well-packaged and undamaged.
Note that this filter has two filter areas which are well supported by its plastic frame. Sponge seals are provided on the plastic frame to improve sealing, so that all the air entering the cabin is filtered.
This is a far better filter than the ones originally supplied by GM for use in our 2005 Buick LeSabre. The original GM filter was one piece, with a bending joint between the two parts of the filter media. It just ‘laid’ in the filter compartment and there was no attempt to seal the filter to the body of the car’s filter housing. There is really no objective ‘test’ of these cabin air filters, other than the ‘fit’ when installing it. When our cabin air filter is quite dirty, the heater and air conditioning appear to work just fine – We notice no real difference when a new filter is installed. It just makes us feel better…..
This filter is lower priced than purchasing the filter through GM.
We change it once a year and will buy it again through Amazon.

If you go to change your filter and find no supporting frame. Buy this one! It comes with the frame. Just like shown in the picture.
