Was a replacement for my v6 boat

I bought this on the description given by the Amazon website. It says it is a switch with normal open contacts.
My intention was to wire it to just an over temp indicator light. When the engine came up to temp, my light just
barely glows, so I measure the so called switch with an ohm meter to ground to find 1000 ohms to ground after
the engine had cooled down some. So this must be a sensor, not a switch !!! This could be why it has many returns !

It was advertised as correct sensor the my Chevrolet motor and when I tried to screw it into my motor it was the wrong size threads and would not mate to the engine block
