This pump was delivered just like the photo. I was only expecting the pump with out the reservoir for this price. This was best deal I could find for a new power steering pump. Even the remanufactured units were a few $ more. If your looking for a great OEM replacement this is it.

At first when I received this in the mail I was really disappointed how poorly it was packaged. It was pretty much just a box inside a box. One of the mount threads were smashed and i had to use a file to fix them, wasn’t hard at all though. The rest of it looked good, I had to paint it but no biggie at all. I used some engine primer and black spray paint. I flushed the system before installing the new one, put this new pump on, added some lucas ps fluid, installed a duralast inline filter then i vacuum blead the pump 3-4 times before starting the engine.. Fired it up and it worked beautifully! No noise what so ever! I ran the truck until it it was completely warm then topped off the fluid. Took it for a cruise and I was blown away how perfect and quiet it was. I highly recommend this pump! I will never buy another reman from the auto parts store again. This is one engine part definitely worth spending the extra money on. You’ll thank yourself later.

The advertise that is ACDelco and it’s not the power steering pump makes more noise than the one I had that was going out fellas you can go to your local auto parts store for about $100 and get something better don’t buy this product

This pump model is specifically build for 1500 GM products, that provide powering steering and vacuum booster brake, I know that there are some 1500 model used hydro-booster brake instead of vacuum-booster brake. Best way to verify what booster-brake system use on your vehicle is by calling your local GM part dealership to verify the part number before ordering on here. Other way to verify is to look at left corner driver side of the firewall to determined the type of booster brake system use on your vehicle. Hope this help anyone who tried to figure the fit and the system use on this power steering unit.

Amazon says this part doesn’t fit my 2006 Silverado 5.3 litre but the GM dealership said it did according to my VIN. I ordered it and installed it yesterday. Not too happy that it’s made in China but it fit perfect and is working as intended. Also mine came in and is the stainless steel housing not black as pictured but that didnt matter to me.

We replaced at least three re-manufactured power steering pumps (in a two week time period) in our Chevy Truck that were purchased from a local auto parts store. This new power steering pump is very quiet and even performs much better than the re-manufactured ones. We are very pleased by the consistent performance and impressive quiet operation of the AC Delco Pump. Highly Recommended! Save yourself a fair amount of hassle and frustration… avoid the cheaper re-manufactured pumps and purchase this pump.

I purchased this pump to replace the failed unit on m y father in laws 2004 2WD Chevy Silverado. With a 5.3 engine. The pump itself was priced right as re-man pumps from the chain stores cost upwards of 90 dollars with a core of 30-60 dollars. I felt more confident in the AC part that was brand new in the box without the hassle of returning a greasy core. The pump installed well and the part was identical to the original GM part. With the sket he quality of re – manufactured parts nowadys this was a great choice to get the job done right the first time. As always cross reference the correct part numbers and you’ll have the right part everytime.

I purchased this pump for a 2001 Tahoe LT 4×4 5.3L that has the speed-dependent power steering with the dual-orifice control valve. If you also have this, you’ll need to swap your existing solenoid valve from the old pump onto the new. When you do this, you’ll find that there are two square-edged rubber O-rings/gaskets and one round rubber O-ring that you should DEFINITELY replace. My truck has 145k relatively easy miles in the mild Seattle climate, and these o-rings, as with all other ones were deteriating and shrunken badly.
I’m pretty disappointed that these o-rings were not included since it would have cost them only a couple pennies and they are hard to source and fairly application specific. In fact, I think that they should include the entire solenoid valve and valve housing, or offer a P/N that has this pre-installed with all new gaskets, since this is supposed to be “Original Equipment”-grade AC Delco parts and are offered at a premium price compared to the OEM/Parts House generic replacements and re-man’s, many of which include the valve at around half the price of this unit or less.
As a final note, if you also have a 2001-vintage Tahoe/Suburban/Denali/Escalade/Silverado and are purchasing this and expecting a true “Original Equipment” identical replacement, be aware that this pump is now made in China, and it’s physical appearance is as shown in the second picture (and not the first)– It has a galvanized steel (silver-colored) reservoir and the printing on the dipstick cap is a steering wheel symbol as opposed to the orange wording of the original, which is an interesting contrast and reminder of just how many years have passed and how much has changed since these great trucks were designed and built. And the GMT-800’s i believe will become increasingly seen as the curtain call for an automotive era. I sure wish I could order a brand new 2001.

Replaced my pump just over a year ago at 180,000 km’s as it was whining with a less costly after market pump from a reputable jobber. That new pump started whining immediately and then failed at the shaft bushing after about a year, leaking fluid all over the serpentine belt etc.
Online recommendations said buy the AC Delco, so I did but Amazon saved me about $150 from the dealer price.
Not whining so far, about a month in, wish they sent fresh o-rings though.
