This was an Amazon recommended so I bought this one for a little more money. I’ve come to trust Amazon’s recommendations because they are based on product returns and failure rates, and customer satisfaction. The alternator on my 2007 MDX finally died, and the dealer wanted 900 bucks for an aftermarket replacement and install or 1100 for an OEM. C’mon, this is a 17 year old vehicle, so no thanks. Amazon to the rescue once again!. I watched two videos on how to replace the alternator AND how to replace the serpentine belt. That last one is very important because without the second video, you can’t figure out how to get the belt back on easily. Once I watched these videos, it was a cinch because I had all the tools I needed, again, thanks to AMAZON!! The only thing I had trouble with was the rear main bolt bushing, in that it needed to be pressed in farther than what the factory installed it to be in the unit. A few gentle taps with a mallet and in she went. Dropped it in, tightened up, followed the video instructions that the internet provided and in 2 hours total time, I saved the 900 bucks the dealer wanted, minus the $112 for the alternator and $30 for the extra long ratchet that was invaluable. Hooked everything back up, started up the engine and voila, 14.1 volts, and the engine is now quiet as a church mouse again. Amazon was not only cheaper than the local auto parts places, but the local stores were out of stock and had a 2-3 week lead time. Why bother anymore with local stores. Amazon just made it so easy. And best of all, there is no core charge. I gave the old alternator away to be recycled at the local metal scrapyard.

Product works like a champ- as others have mentioned the back bushing arrive sticking out too far and you need to tap the back one in with a hammer or you won’t get it to fit. Was able to replace my alternator and serpentine belt in under an hour. You’ll need a 10mm 11mm sockets and 14mm long offset box wrench for the tensioning pulley 🙂

Bought this alternator for my 2007 Honda Odyssey, It didn’t fit the bottom mount,
I had to use a dremel to grind the rear bushing down a bit, after that it fits.
Hooked everything back up started van checked the voltage was 14.5 volts DC.
SO FAR SO GOOD. Very happy with my purchase

The price of this alternator actually was too good to be true and too bad that I couldn’t know until after I paid a mechanic to install it to find out that it was completely defective and inoperable. Cost me an extra $350 – on top of the $225 I had already paid for this part and labor – to replace this alternator with one from Autozone and to have my mechanic remove and reinstall a new one! Purchase at your own risk!

installation was as expected fiddley due to install location. I used a clamp shorten the lower mount, do this before install. dash board lights brighter, I have confidence it will last great product great price. I returned core to AutoZone.
