These are some of the best cable clamps I’ve used. They’re strong and heavy duty. I built my own cables with a connection so I don’t have to open the hood. There’s nothing like custom made equipment.
I’m glad there are 2 sets because I may add one to the wifes truck too.
Ulysses –
The battery clips that came with both my jump starter and my battery charger were pretty flimsy. These are definitely not. I think this is both a cost issue (flimsy, mostly plastic clips/clamps are cheaper) but skimping on the clips could cost you when you most need them. These won’t break under normal storage and use, maybe even under abuse, but the plastic ones can and do break (read the reviews.) There is a trade-off: the plastic clips/clamps are often better insulated with the plastic covering almost all of the metal that actually makes contact with your battery. That’s not the case with these (and it the reason for one star off.) If you aren’t careful, you can short these and experience exactly why the others have so much insulation. On the other hand, these will easily attach to your battery and ground point and bite hard (both of these can be problematic with cheaper, plastic ones.) So you have to use care and common sense. If that doesn’t describe your approach to things, look elsewhere, or maybe rely on a pro.
The kit includes 2 each red (for positive) and black (for ground) along with copper crimp connectors. For that, the price is pretty good. You remove the old clips, and crimp and/or solder the copper connectors to the wires on your charger/jump starter. then bolt the connectors on to the clips, remembering the rubber insulator sleeve. If your charger/jump starter has quick disconnect cables, you can attach these to the business end of those (where the old clips are.)
For me, these are a huge improvement over the originals on both my charger and jump starter. I doubt I will ever have to replace these unless they get stolen. Recommended if you are comfortable with a little effort modding your equipment, and you are a safety oriented worker.
