This is one of my favorite products for small plastic repairs. With properly prepared surfaces and the 3m adhesion promoter this stuff forms a tremendously strong bond and sands easily. It sets extremely fast so make sure to have the part or parts ready to go. It comes with 2 mixing nozzles but the container has enough product for multiple repairs so I recommend buying more of the nozzles. It may be tempting to skip the use of the mixing nozzle and just mix by hand on a mixing board but you run the high risk of it not mixing properly resulting in it not catalyzing properly. Thay will lead to impropery curing times, poor adhesion, and can make it a nightmare to sand. I use the 3m mixing applicator but cheaper alternatives can be found online thay work just as well.

I’ve been using 3M products for decades, and have come to trust their claims for the their products’ ability to work on plastics with which other brands’ products fail miserably. This adhesive and the results I’ve gotten from it strengthened my trust in 3M’s products.
I used this adhesive to glue a backup sump pump made of polyethylene to a pvc pipe, and after a minute of applying the combined adhesive and holding the work parts in place, the adhesive set to a semirigid consistency that was strong enough for me to let go of the work pieces. I left the parts to cure overnight, and they came out strong and solid with no sign of the adhesive peeling off the polyethylene or the parts coming apart. The parts were solidly glued to each other. All this was after trying a dozen other types of adhesives ranging from plumbers solvent adhesive for pvc to plumbers general adhesive for multiple products (abs, PVC, CPVC), to plumbers “fusion” adhesive for dissimilar plastics to other brands’ adhesives and epoxies specifically for plastics. They all failed —all peeling easily off my polyethylene parts.
The only con of this 3M product in my opinion: the work time coming out of the mixing syringe is only 20 seconds, so I had to work quickly to apply the adhesive to both mating surfaces, mate them together, and in my case with the pipe shape, twist the parts to spread the glue around—all within 20 seconds. Set time was about a minute as indicated on 3M’s data sheet for this product, so be ready to clamp or hold your work pieces together for a full minute.
To maximize the chances of a strong bond, I did use sandpaper to lightly roughen up the polyethylene surface and applied adhesive primer for low energy plastics to it before I applied the adhesive.
The cost of using this system is high compared to general purpose and specialty plastic adhesives from other companies: you have to have a 3M adhesive gun, and if you want to use the adhesive tube for more than just one job, you’ll need to buy extra mixing tips as the package only comes with a single tip. The adhesive tube itself is 2 to 3 times the price of other brands’ two-part plastic adhesives and epoxies. But this product actually worked for me when others have failed, so the cost was well worth it.

This stuff works amazing, i used this product to rebuild a bumper tab on my car that had broken. However make sure you work fast because this turns solid within a minute. Excellent product, very tough and durable in various environments and conditions.

A great way to apply and use quick set epoxy.

This is just about the handiest stuff I’ve come across in a long time. Here’s why; It seems like I come across projects all the time where something needs to be glued (epoxy) but there is just no practical way to clamp it while the glue dries. With this epoxy, you can literally just hold it in place for 30 seconds and it’s cured to the point you can let go. After a few minutes, you can actually use the part. I also use it to seal things, you can put pressure on it after a few minutes with no leaks (I’ve used it for low-pressure sealing of voids, only a few PSI. It’s not technically a sealant).
If this sounds good to you, I’d just make the plunge and invest in the gun and a pack of 50 of the nozzles. If you buy the nozzles in a 50 pack they are only about a dollar apiece. When you need this kind of epoxy there is often no other way reasonable get the job done and $1 seems like no big deal.
I also have tubes of the 5 minute, 30 minute and the long set versions. With this quick set stuff, I don’t see how you could use it without a gun and a nozzle, it just sets up too fast. With the longer set epoxy you certainly can mix it by hand and apply it with a popsicle stick or something. I still like to use the gun and nozzle because it mixes it perfectly and allows you to apply the glue right where it’s needed. True, you do waste some epoxy that’s left in the nozzle and you do use a $1 nozzle every time you epoxy something. But for the accuracy, times saving, and mess avoidance it’s worth it to me.

This is an honest review of this item, which I purchased full price on Amazon.com:
I had high hopes for this product. Normally with 3M its pretty safe to say it will work well. I have been working on cars and airplanes pretty much my entire life and wanted to use this to repair a bumper tab that broke on my wife’s car.
I followed the instructions completely, the humidity was low and the temperature was in the 70’s and in an indoor garage. The product was properly mixed and a 3M applicator was used.
After about an hour the product was still runny and not setting. After about 5 hours the product was still tacky but starting to set. After 3 days the product was still tacky and semi set. After a week, I removed the material and tried again. I read the instructions again…same outcome.
I would not recommend this product to anyone. I don’t know if I just got a bad batch or it was old…

Extremely fast curing time . Basically a one time repair item Due to one nozzle being supplied. For the price you pay two nozzles should be included. Excellent epoxy for repairing bumper tabs.

This stuff is pricey and you need the proper gun and a lot of nozzles (one for each job you do). But: If you need to glue something together and are tired of super glues and epoxies that miss the mark get this stuff! I have fixed numerous tabs, knobs, broom handles, etc with this glue. It sets up fast (30 seconds or so) which is good and bad. You need to insure you know exactly where you want the glued part to be oriented before you start. However you will not need to hold the parts together for very long! Great stuff. Wish I had known about it years ago! Oh and once you discard the used nozzle you can reseal the tube for future use!
