This was my first time replacing my temperature sensor. First, let me say that this product fit great!
Now, for you other first-timers…. Locating the existing sensor wasn’t easy, only because you can’t really fit your head into the space underneath your car to actually see the plug – but you CAN trace the connecting wire to feel for it! With that said, unplug the connecting wire, then use a deep socket (sorry, I don’t remember the size) to start unscrewing the existing sensor – only unscrew it with the deep socket just enough until you can turn it by hand. The HARD PART is this: when you unscrew the existing sensor, keep applying pressure TOWARD the coolant fluid that’s on the other side of that plug; once you pull it out, that coolant will start pouring, so BE FAST when adding the new sensor to fill that plug.
I wasn’t fast and it left a really big mess on the floor. Note: coolant fluid is really slippery, so it would have been better if I lined the garage floor with lots of newspaper first or somehow figured out how to assemble a funnel to a container to catch it. It really does start POURING out… and doesn’t taste very good. Ick!)
Go ahead and laugh, but I’m a girl, and you have to give me credit for repairing my own car. 🙂

Check engine light came on, code said “PT185 Engine coolant temperature sensor 2”. Figured out that was this part, put it in the #2 sensor spot according to this nifty diagram I found online and now the problem is gone. 🙂
