I think I got this around 2 years ago. I use it a little more than one time per week. It still works. There are no issues.
My auto mechanic said sometimes they will disconnect and you don’t know it. This has not happened. The battery charges like it should and the car starts. I think the price is a little high.

REVIEW UPDATE:
As I was mounting this to the battery one of arms broke off. After further inspection what appears to be copper mounting arms is actually cheap “pot” metal that has been plated with a copper film, they are NOT solid copper. The one that broke had a hair line fracture under the copper plating. The only actual copper part is the blade, the rest is garbage. Don’t waste your money.

We got my son a beater for his first car and somewhere in the electrical system is a voltage leak that I have not been able to find and kills his battery. The car is just not worth the cost of paying a pro to find the leak.
Then I came across this rather genius product.
This installs in seconds with only the tools require to loosen and tighten the battery cable. You install it on the negative terminal (NOT THE POSITIVE!!!) and as long as the switch is open, the battery cannot be drained because it requires a complete circuit to kill the battery.
Since installing this, his battery hasn’t died and we don’t have to keep jumping his car.
There is one downside. By breaking the negative, anything that the car relies on constant power for, like saving radio station presets, will not work. The car is fully electrically dead without the negative.. Not a dealbreaker when weighed against the hassle of jump starting and the cost of batteries, but something to known.

This is an easy to install & eady to use battery disconnect but it does require a bit of space to operate. Installed it on a 2017 Outback & it works perfect. Allows the car to be stored for a couple of months, preventing the inevitable battery drainage from all the electronics. Just reconnect the battery & you’re good to go

Just as described, mine came without a bolt for the load end, but easy to get around. Other than that product is well built imo and has been working great on my diy project. Easy to hookup and mount. The simplicity of the disconnect makes it reliable.

I am gonna disagree with some of the reviewers saying that your battery cable won’t tighten well on cone shaped terminal. Yes, terminal is cone shaped but I was able to tighten it no problem, I took it over some big bumps and it hasn’t moved a hair. One thing that can be improved is a bottom part of the switch, it’s made of plastic. I plan to modify this and use a metal plate on the bottom, all you need is a thick metal plate same shape as a plastic on the bottom, drill 2 holes and reconnect the switch, this way it’ll probably outlast the car.

The non-threaded opening only allows a 3/8″ bolt (provided) to pass through which makes it too small to attach to the negative terminal on the side mount battery (which typically receives 5/16″). You will have to drill out the hole further to allow a 5/16″ bolt to pass through to attach directly to the battery. The other side is threaded, and they provide the 5/16″ bolt but it is useless if that is where you’d ideally attach existing vehicle harness (again, as you can’t use it to attach to the battery as the non-threaded hole is too small). This is a heavy duty, well constructed unit otherwise. I had to purchase a different manufacturer to achieve a simple attachment.
