Purchased this for my john deere lx176. Old coil was shutting down after it got hot but would start the engine.
When the new coil arrived one of the laminations were separated but i decided to install it anyway, it didn’t work, no matter what I did (made sure the gap was set correctly, made sure the coil wire to the spark plug was good) it didn’t start the engine.

This product did not last long.
Bought in September of last year, started and run the machine 2 times. Now I have no spark from the Ingnition coil/module.
will be ordering from John Deere!

This resolved an issue I was having with my John Deere LX172 – it was consistently stalling with a large backfire after a few minutes of running. Tried numerous other fixes/troubleshooting steps such as cleaning and then fully replacing the carburator, replacing the battery, replacing the fuel cap, inspecting the fuel lines/pump/replacing the fuel filter. After chasing all of that down, came to realize that this part was the source of my issue. After replacing this and also all the other aforementioned parts, tractor is now running better than ever.

The coil might rub against the flywheel. Elongate the holes with a rat tail file to move it back slightly. John Deere 170. Now it runs Great!
