I needed a replacement for the failing original power steering pump in my 2006 Subaru Forester, which had been making quite a racket for the past year – lots of unpleasant shrieking sounds, and inconsistent steering assist. When I was looking at this Autodevil pump, I noticed something confusing: Amazon’s vehicle fitment tool said it wouldn’t fit my car. However, the manufacturer’s description clearly listed it as compatible with the 2006-2008 Forester 2.5L. I decided to go by the manufacturer’s info, and I can confirm they were correct – it perfectly fits my non-turbo 2006 Forester as a replacement for Subaru part number 34430SA001.
The installation was straightforward. The pump lined up perfectly with the existing mounting points on the engine, and the included pulley was correct. I noted that the top pressure hose outlet fitting looked different from the original Subaru part. However, it was simple enough to just unbolt that fitting from the new pump and swap over the original fitting from my old pump. It threaded right onto the Autodevil unit without complications, ensuring a perfect seal with the existing hose.
The results were fantastic once everything was bolted back up, and I’d flushed the old fluid and refilled it with fresh power steering fluid. The steering is now incredibly smooth and quiet – seriously, it feels like it did when the car was new. No more groaning or whining, and turning the wheel is effortless again. My only minor complaint is that while the pump arrived very well packaged and wrapped, the top inlet port had no protective cap or plug installed. Most replacement pumps usually come with all ports sealed. It wasn’t an actual problem for this installation. Still, the manufacturer might want to consider adding a simple plastic cap to keep debris out before it’s installed. Despite that minor point, don’t necessarily be deterred if Amazon’s fitment checker gives you a warning; based on my experience replacing Subaru part 34430SA001 on a 2006 non-turbo Forester, the manufacturer’s compatibility list was accurate, and this Autodevil pump was an excellent replacement. It definitely solved the problems I was having.

Bolt it up and is working just fine no leaks no problems so far. It’s much quieter than the failed units it replaced. I will update this review if there are problems down the road.
