I wanted to upgrade the original factory RV 20 Lb. struts with these 40 Lb. struts hoping they will last longer and stand up to the wind. I’ve been bonked on the head many times by the basement hatch slamming down. These do a nice job. Be cautions when closing and do nut push down in the center of the hatch. Due to the extra tension close the hatch by grabbing the rigid sides near where the struts are mounted, it is stronger there and less likely to deform you hatch door. These are well made and will likely last much longer than the originals.
