I am sooo pleased with this purchase after dealing with my trunk not staying up for a long time. This product fit perfectly on my Lexus RX300 and it took minutes to install. Definitely need assistance as the trunk is extremely heavy trying to install them alone.
The new lifts work like a charm and are extremely sturdy. It’s not to heavy to pull down as I thought it might be based on other reviews.
Thanks for delivering great value for the price. It is nice to be able to use the trunk with ease and when getting a car wash the trunk now stays up on its own. Would definitely recommend this product!

Despite claiming vehicle compatibility, the additional width or misplacement of mounting holes caused installation bolt to break during installation. Also, strength is barely enough to lift the rear hatch which results in it opening very slowly.

Update – 28 Mar.
The shock continues to pop out – on basically every few uses now. Supplier said they would send a replacement but was not received.
Update – 21 Oct.
Well, further to my initial comment below, just a few days after install one of the shocks has started popping-out the retaining ball. Happened twice already in one day, so seems like I may have an issue with this shock. Writing the supplier and let’s see their response. Will update.

I got these after not being able to find them anywhere close to where I live, and having struggled with using a broomstick to hold open the rare lid for 6 months (not fun and embarrassing). These went on very easily – some have said the holes don’t line up correctly, but mines went in fine with just some wiggling. People have to remember this part and its mounting holes take years of abuse and slams, so the holes may elongate or distort somehow. Anyways, after 10 mins of removing the old and installing the new, I finally have a properly working liftgate! They seem very sturdy, and there is a bit of force required to pull down now so they are giving good tension apparently. I am very pleased thus far, after 2 weeks.

Replacing the struts with these on my 2001 Lexus RX300 was easy taking about 45 minutes, but it is definitely a two-person job. The hatch doors are heavier than you might think, plus it helps to have someone giggle the door enough to get the struts in place. Before replacing the struts, the hatch was constantly closing on my head, especially in the MN winter. The replacement struts work perfectly.

I used a 10mm socket wrench with 8″ extension. See YouTube for installation videos.
Note: On my Lexus RX300, where the strut bracket bolts to the car frame, the threaded holes on the left side of the frame were in ever so slightly slightly different positions than on the right side. I had to drill out the lower hole in the strut bracket to get an extra millimeter of opening so that the bolt had a clear shot at the threaded hole in the car frame. The bracket itself only has so much wiggle room to make sure it lines up with the frame threaded holes.
The other strut went on clean.

it was trickier to install this since it lacked the lexus factory ball socket that slips apart. the replacement part is about 1/4″ wider at the base but I managed to fit it into place.
These new shocks are stiff and sturdy. should have replaced to worn out ones years ago.

I finally had them installed and they work well. They lift the hatch to my SUV so high that I can no longer use the hand hold to bring the hatch down. I have to use my cane to bring the hatch down so I can close it! Beats the broom handle I was using to hold the hatch up. Lol
