Installing this new cabin air filter for my 2015 Prius was not difficult once I studied a couple of online videos, first of how to remove and replace the lower glove box and then how to decide which way the filter goes. It looks to be good quality, containing a lot more types of filters than the old one had. Since squirrels and rats enjoy Toyota engines, especially in the winter, and I speak from sad experience, these filters can get dirty from more than just the usual tree and road debris. So I like to keep it clean to protect the air we’re breathing in the cabin. It’s important to install this filter with the correct side up, since it has so many special filters. Paying attention to the way the old one is installed when removing it helps, but knowing which way the air flows through the filter from the blower makes it more effective and last longer. That took a bit more thought and research, but for my Prius the UP arrow on this new filter was correct, and although it (and the old one) look like they should go in with the pleats running sideways, they don’t. The little gap it leaves on the right is correct. The AC air flow seemed the same afterwards as before, but I’m going to pay attention for a little while to make sure that is correct since the old filter was not a HEPA filter like this one, which worst case scenario can restrict air flow.
