I planned to use this connector assembly to power my 5.5GPM sprayer pump that draws 17 Amps and 12VDC. The last switch I had melted. Since there is no current rating in the description, I took this switch apart and found the rating. It says 10A 125VAC, 6A 250VAC, and there is a European CE safety mark. So, it is rated for maximum of 10 amps and will not work for my sprayer pump.
When I look further at the description, I see the material is “Copper/ Silicone Rubber”. It certainly does not feel like silicone. So, I tested it by touching it with a hot soldering iron. The insulation immediately melted. Therefore, it is not silicone. The melt mark in the picture is next to the printed cable temperature rating 105°C. That happens to be temperature rating of the most common PVC insulation. If it was silicone, the rating would be 200°C.

I grabbed this 16AWG SAE Battery Connector Wire Harness to hook up to my Optimate battery charger. 🔋 I liked the idea of having that on/off switch, makes it easy to switch between batteries without having to unplug everything. 💡
The wires themselves, theyre impressive, actually pretty thick and sturdy, better quality than most other cables Ive seen. 💪 No complaints there. But, those alligator clips… Yeah, they’re kinda… chincy. Like, they feel cheap and flimsy and I installed them myself.. I’m not super confident they’ll hold up long term but alright for the occasional use and a good backup set.
The quick connect part, that actually works perfectly with both of my battery chargers. 🥳 I was happy about that! It’s really convenient and happy to have an extra set in case I misplace my main one.
For the price, which right now is like six bucks on sale, it’s not bad. 💸 I mean, it does the job. But if this thing was, like, double the price, I’d definitely look for something with better quality clips. Overall, It’s really decent, but not amazing. I’m using it, and it’s working, but I wish the alligator clips werent as cheap as they are.
