Replaced tensioner along with water pump and new belt install. Direct replacement for original part. Amazing how much quieter the engine idles with new tensioner. Old tensioner bearing was dried out and squeaky.

If you buy this part directly from Toyota, it will cost you about $160. You could buy more than six of these for that! If it were only that simple. I am giving it 5 stars because it is incredibly less expensive than the Toyota part. It appears well made, and works well now, the real question is how long will it last? Both Toyotas part, and this replacement have a plastic idler pulley. Ok, maybe it is carbon fibre, it looks like plastic. Appearance wise they are both the same quality. I’m running with it and hoping for the best. The cost of labor to replace this if you don’t do it for yourself is more than the cost of Toyota’s part. So that is a decision you need to make, because until I pile some miles on this I don’t know if it is the same quality or not. I can say that the original part lasted more than 100K miles, as did the belt. It however made sense to replace the tensioner at the same time as the belt. Only time will tell, If it does not hold up I will come back to edit this review.
At this point I like this tensioner, it works and it was much less expensive than the OEM Toyota part. I do recommend it!
