Having owned a Honda Element for sometime now, I lave learned there are certain parts that are highly likely to fail at higher mileages and this is one of those parts. Mine failed and caused the check engine light to come on. A scan of the code identified this as the culprit so I ordered it through Amazon at a fraction of the cost of the Honda branded replacement. It has now been installed only a few days but so far so good! Replacing this part also fixed a fairly significant oil leak that I had no idea was connected.
Many will say use only original Honda parts and typically I might agree, but when comparing this part to the cost of Honda’s, I was willing to give it a try and so far I am glad I did. I will provides updates to this review if I experience any problems.

Maybe what they say about using only Honda parts is true! After driving my Element 346 miles with the new part, the check engine light came on indicating a “knock sensor” code and also a P2646 code which is when the ECM detects a problem in the rocker arm system for bank 1. A mechanic told me this can be directly related to a faulty Vtech solenoid. I also suddenly started receiving a VSA error code. Bottom line, I changed out this vtech solenoid and all codes/problems have gone away with no reoccurrences so far after approx 200 miles. Based on this experience, I downgraded my initial rating to 2 stars and will chalk it up as me receiving a defective part.
