This is a great value for the number of parts you get. I am not sure I will ever need this many shims, but even the felt pads alone are worth the price. I have found myself needing the occasional shim though when getting a battery that is supposed to fit a car, but instead the post is too small. If you work on enough cars this will happen to you, and having a shim makes it work. These work well and are a good price, so if you need a few felt pads consider this as a way to have spares.

Every couple of years I find myself pressure washing the engine compartment. Which involves cleaning the battery posts by removing the cables, using a wire brush or a wire brush battery post cleaner and sometimes I’ve had to use a metal file to really get all the corrosion removed that has eaten away some of the lead posts. With these battery shims I can cover the posts preserving the original shape plus I’ve always had to replace the felt washers because they’d keep falling apart from the corrosion. This battery post shim & felt washer kit is just the thing to have around when you need or want to clean the battery. The shims should fit any 12v automobile battery perfectly. The felt washers will not only fit around the posts but will also fit side mounting battery terminals. This will give many years of battery cleaning’s without having to drive 10 miles just to get to the auto parts store. Whether you’re a mechanic or just want to do-it yourself this is worth the money spent.

I purchased these Battery Post Shims hoping for a quick fix for my slightly worn battery terminals. What I got was complete frustration and wasted time. The shims looked like they would work, but reality was different. The shim made the post too thick—my battery terminal clamp would not fit over it no matter how hard I tried. I spent 45 minutes struggling but haven’t get even one shim on. After all that effort, I gave up and bought a new battery terminal connector (which worked perfectly). These shims were not a repair solution—just a waste of time.
