Bottom Line: these are great for managing large numbers of wires in a project.
I used these to repurpose a large array of LiFePO4 batteries into smaller modules with a BMS on each one. This required 13 connections to each pack and I used these connectors (16 pin) to make them easy to assemble. I simply crimped the pins with small needle-nose pliers and then applied a drop of solder (I don’t have a proper crimping tool). The pins easily slid into the housing and the housings lock to each other with a positive snap.
Fit and consistency is very good. There are seals to keep incidental water out but I would not consider this to be outdoor rated.
Pro Tips:
1. Be VERY careful if using solder. I accidentally let some crawl up into the mating area of the female pins. This prevents the male pin from going in and you’ll have to remove them and re-work.
2. To remove the pins once seated, pry the small plastic tab away from the pin at the front of the connector. -Or you can push them out using a hot soldering iron, but then you’ll have to use glue to hold the replacement.
