Install was straight forward. Hardest part was getting the case apart. Found out about this just in time. My case was 3/4 of the way worn through by the original pump and that was with the clip still installed. Fortunately I was able to get this in before my transfer case was beyond salvage. Could have cost me a whole new transfer case

This is the one you want!!! Not those flimsy plates that you put behind the pump. This thing works perfect and WILL fix your pump rub issue for the long haul!!! They have other brands of this exact thing but they don’t fit as well as the merchant automotive brand. Spend the extra money and get the quality you need!!!

2004 Silverado z71. Works great it’s an easy install. You’ll need some wide jaw snap ring pliers, flat head screwdriver, and torq #10 for installation. Im not mechanical savy but did it myself to save money. This adapter has BEEFY tabs on it compared to knife edges of OEM. Gotta junk yard T-case with only 90,000 miles on it and it too was getting pump rub. Get this for peace of mind you won’t regret it. First pic is the hole in Tcase.

SAFE TO ASSUME, IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THIS PRODUCT FOR PREVENTATIVE OR THE DAMAGE IS ALREADY DONE TO THE TAIL STOCK ON YOUR TRANSFER CASE, NP261/NP263 , THIS IS THE BEST ON THE MARKET, VERY HIGH QUALITY, PERFECT FIT, PROBLEM SOLVED!!!. THERE SHOULD BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT ON GM FOR THE DESIGN FLAW ON THE PUMP/CASE FITMENT ISSUES. AT LEAST SOMEBODY WITH VISION HAS COME UP WITH THIS REPAIR SO IT CAN NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. IF I ONLY KNEW ABOUT THIS BEFORE IT WAS TOO LATE, ITS WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I installed this into a new Dorman 917-561 rear transfer case housing on a NP246 transfer case in my 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD that has a 6.0L gas engine and a 4L80E 4 speed auto trans. It fit perfectly and it is obviously a quality product. It is only ease to install if you have your transfer case apart or out of the vehicle. If you have a 1998-2006 GM truck, your transfer case will fail if you do not have this product.

I have a 2003 Silverado 1500HD 4×4 that I have owned since new. It wasn’t showing any pump rub leaks but I wanted to get this upgrade before it happened. After youtubing the process, I bought this kit and took it to my mechanic. He said it went right in, came with everything he needed and had no issues. Took about three hours according to him to pull the driveshafts, drop the transfer case, put in the new upgrade and reinstall everything. Seems to be running fine inside the transfer case and now no worries about the dreaded pump rub hole.

I did not have as much pump rub as some did. I pulled my NP246 from my 07 Suburban to see if there was an issue because I was (and still am) getting the famous GM clunk. I was hoping there was something in the transfer case that was worn out after 185k. No such luck. While I was in it though I decided to fix a TSB problem with these transfer cases. I replaced the pump housing and slipped it back in. Great quality product and fit perfectly. You either need one or you don’t. If you are having symptoms of pump rub (leaking fluid), buy this to correct any future problems after you fix your case housing 🙂
