Fit and work as designed for my truck box

Absoute junk, I Installed them on a $1000 custom tool box with a lid and the blew out exactly 31 days as i finished building the box. The lid weight was well under what both could handle. Now i cant even return them cuz i just missed the return day.

The fit is loose. The mounting brackets are thin and bend easily. One clip on the head broke when inserting the ball socket. Luckily it’s probably the same factory that makes all of them and the ball socket from one it’s replacing screwed right on.
These are cheap, but work – mostly.
The actuator itself is fine and does what it’s supposed to. Don’t know for how long, but it does for now.

Bought these hinges for a wall mounted, fold up puzzle desk I made for my daughter. After some messing around I got the hinges in the right location to allow the desk to close and stay closed, and open at a 90 degree angle (roughly) but the pictured brackets are both way to flimsy of metal and have bent considerably in the couple hours since I’ve installed it. It’s quite possible I don’t have it aligned perfectly (the instructions were very brief, and I am using a piano hinge so the measurements in the instructions needed to be tweaked a bit, but the hinge is just a piece of stamped metal that is quite easy to bend.
I’m hoping that they will hold up to light use, but I’m already thinking ahead to needing to replace the bracket with a more heavy duty option (if I can find one) or replacing the whole piston system at some point if I can not.
