Gone are the days of using a block of wood and a thick screwdriver to pry my brake pads apart, lol. I have used that method going on 20 years and it’s always been fine, until I started fixing up trucks and other vehicles that have double pistons. You end up chipping off pieces of the brake pads struggling to open them.

The #1 best tool for ALL brakes, is the ratcheting “imperial tie fighter” pad spreader. It gets the front pistons retracted and can get some rear pistons taken care of too… But when it comes to these annoying newer type rear calipers, the pistons dont push straight, and instead must be SPUN in a clockwise motion to be retracted. The standard tool for this task was, for too long, a strange cube with various nubs on each side. The cube was mounted to your 3/8″ ratchet and the hell the began, as the cube tool would usually slip occasionally and cause you to damage your hands.

La herramienta es bastante básica y fácil de utilizar, lo único que cambiaría es la plancha de metal que pones entre la muesca de la herramienta y el caliper para ejerce presión en el pistón del frenos. Es bastante gruesa lo que dificulta colocarla en su posición si el pistón del freno está muy afuera.
