Needed a replacement tether for the gas cap and this is a good fit however it doesn’t spin freely as you twist the cap on or off, which tangles the tether somewhat. Pre-twist the tether in the opposite direction or lightly grease the ring

Advertised as a tether to retain cap and it does BUT only when cap is locked in place…what good is that? Slides off while turning cap on or off. Won’t rotate on cap. Buy original.

Fits my 2012 S60 T5 but the material is more rubbery than the OG so there is so much friction that it doesn’t allow the gas cap to rotate

The Volvo XC70 gas cap requires almost two full turns to unscrew it. The original Volvo hard-plastic retaining strap clicks into the gas cap groove and turns freely, so the cord doesn’t twist around the gas cap when removing.
This retaining strap is rubber, and it clamps tightly in the gas cap groove. It doesn’t slide when removing the gas cap. So the cord twists around the cap, making it difficult to remove or put back on. It popped right off the cap the second fill-up. This retaining strap may work fine with gas caps that only require a quarter turn to remove. But not with a gas cap that takes two full turns.
Turns out Volvo sells the original hard-plastic part, #31336424 for $8.70. Which we bought yesterday, and it works perfectly.
