Al Speyers –
The rear wiper on my ’06 Honda Odyssey seized up so I thought it best to replace everything at the same time – inside and outside. However, note I did not really replace my rear wiper motor which would have cost me anywhere from $140 – $240 depending where I buy it. Instead, I went back to an old “trick” I learned years ago when I had a ’73 Ford Fairlane wagon the rear wiper of which would also seize up every once in a while. Instead of replacing the entire unit I removed the unit and soaked the shaft in a jar of WD-40 for a few days. A gallon can of WD-40 is about $40 and a whole lot cheaper than a new wiper motor. These rear wiper motors seldom wear out and it is almost always the shaft to which the wiper is attached that seizes up because it always operates in a severe environment of dust and dirt.
