When I bought my 2013 Forester, I didn’t realize at the time that the attachment cable was broken / cut. After a few months, I decided it was time to replace it before I lost the cap. There are a bunch of fuel filler caps out there, many of them claiming to fit just like the original. I read several reviews for ‘knock-offs’ that people have bought only to find that they don’t fit properly. I don’t know about everyone else, but that’s one part that I want to fit properly 100% of the time.
Now I like saving money just like the next guy, but when it comes down to safety…do yourself a favor and stick with genuine OEM parts. Sure, they’ll probably cost more, but you get what you pay for.
