My car was pretty stinky whenever I turned on the air conditioner or the defrost. A mechanic I know told me that I need to change the cabin air filter. I looked around and prices in stores near me were $25 or so. This was a much better deal. Easy to install. After comparing the two, I could tell how dirty the previous one was.

A stubborn mouse recently made its nest atop our cabin air filter (CAF) for the second time, after replacing the OEM CAF one just a few months ago (used Honda purchased 3 years ago.)
The replacement filter was from Auto Zone, STP brand CAF1851P for 2008 Honda Fit. This one from Amazon by Denso, model 453-6001, measures 7x7x1 inches, roughly, and fits perfectly in the plastic CAF frame.
The soiled STP one had 27 baffles. The new Denso has 35 baffles.
This item gets five starts since one, it fits as sometimes Amazon specifications of item is not always precise, and sometimes Amazon reviewers review the wrong item by accident, and two, the filter has a lot of baffles to help trap particles.
As a side note, husband shaped a heavy wire screen, installed it in the back end of blower unit, which stopped mouse from entering interior of vehicle and using carpet fluff to build nest on top of CAF, but it did not keep mouse from gaining access to the blower unit. Finally got the mouse that was determined to rebuild his nest on top of the cabin air filter.

Bought this for my daughter’s 2013 Scion FR-S 86. She didn’t even know she had a cabin filter behind her glove box but when I removed the old one it was insane how dirty it was. Nothing fancy (like all the newer active carbon filters) but great for price. I’d rather buy two and change them more often anyway.
Fit my 2014 BRZ perfectly. When installing make sure the words are right side up (arrow should point DOWN). My OEM one was confusing because the arrow indicates which side should be the top, which is reverse of how this one is marked.

It’s a replaceable filter, not much else to say as I’m sure it will do the job. The “easy installation” part really comes from the car itself. Some cars have you basically dismantling the dashboard to get to the filter. The Scion/Toyota/Subaru 86/BRZ thankfully are consumer friendly in this regard. I’d probably start changing this every oil change with how easy it is to replace and for how great the price is.

At the time of purchase, this cost slightly more than the TYC version (cents, not even dollars). They seem to be made equivalently well. The included installation instructions with the Denso item appear to me to be a little bit more thorough (clearer about direction / orientation of the filter in the tray). Other than that they are indistinguishable. Good product, saves money vs. the dealership replacement. Easy to do yourself.
