Nice filter, good price. I typically run WIX filters and WIX actually makes a lot of other famous and highly regarded filters for other brands. Better than the orange ones due to the drain-back filter and better filter media, but if you change your oil on time regularly it’s unlikely to make a huge difference but I like the peace of mind using a brand I trust.

This is the first time I have purchased this WIX oil filter. My reasoning was, I had been a life long FRAM oil filter user (sounds weird), and I had been reading reviews of oil filters (exciting!) and decided to try this WIX oil filter based on other reviews. So, as far as giving the filter a real review, I can’t yet (just changed oil and installed filter).
What I can tell you is that the filter was the correct one for my vehicle and was shipped fairly fast.

I used PureOne for years and years and years and loved them, but about a year ago–the bean counters somehow decided to cut the case height way down for my application (350/chev)..
I was very upset that Purolator cut the size of my filter almost 2inches, kept the price the same, and didn’t find it necessary to explain why. Also Purolator started using this yellow anti-slip grip paint on their cans (which I think SUCKS). I have had many many filters where there was gritty overspray into the mouth of the canister, which could possibly break off and enter the oil.
So I switched to the WIX. I like them even better than the Purolator. Here’s why (pay attention WIX):
1. First of all, its made in North Carolina, USA by Affinia. Keep it that way.
2. The internal contstruction of the filter is very very good. (Look around the net for a cutaway view of the filter).
3. I love the plain gloss black cannister paint and subdued plain logo. None of this Marketing grad bullstuff all over the place with colors and graffics and trash.
4. They have a certain “feel” and “heft” which convinces me that the quality is top-notch.
5. Price is good. You get what you pay for, lets just hope WIX doesn’t change a thing.
I also like the Mobil 1 filter for this application, but I recently discovered that Mobil1 is making some of its other filters IN china. So I am avoiding Mobil 1 until I figure out exactly how much of their line is being made in china. I boycott china on philosophical grounds, so I do my little part where I can to help usa made companies and not give ANY money to traitor companies that offshore.

Have been using WIX filters for years and they are the best. This one is still made in the USA at least. Not sure if there other filters are as I recently bought a WIX fuel filter through Amazon and it was made in China. Will have to see if that one stands up to the test. Seems like every manufacturer is going cheap these days.

It’s an oil filter and it works perfectly on my 2006 AM General HMMWV with the 6.5 liter turbo diesel.
