name brand – good stuff

This was pretty difficult to install. The included lines had the wrong ends for my setup, but made some new ones to work. Got it installed and bled, but haven’t messed with the proportioning part yet. C10 stops straight, will update after doing some hard braking to adjust the rear brakes

Looks good, fits tight and clean.

The bracket makes this installation easy. It was a better option than the cheaper valve that mounted inline. We would have had to find a way to mount it to the firewall. Excesability is another reason to order this. Adjustments and quick.

I bought the kit not knowing that the lines where pre bent for use with a wilwood brand master cylinder. That’s my fault. But the bracket worked on my 75′ wagoneer I’m doing a rear disc conversion on with hydroboost.
Great quality in this thing. Just don’t be like me and forget to bubble the flares on your hard lines when you are making them! Like an idiot, I mangled up the sealing surface on the ‘in’ ports because of this and had a hard time getting them to seal. Flare your hard lines correctly!!

I bend my own lines. I actually like doing custom brake work.
I bought the Wilwood Prop Valve kit (with bracket) and a Wilwood Residual Pressure Valve to fix a front-rear bias problem on a GMT400 K25 Sub tow vehicle. This vehicle is notorious for having poor braking quality due to an extreme 85-15 front-rear bias. It relies almost exclusively on front brakes, nosedives heavily, and chews through front pads without wearing the rear shoes, and does not like to stop no matter how aggressively I adjust the rear shoes. After limited success with increasing rear WC diameters (up to 1.375) to change the F-R bias, I reached the limit of adjustability through component changes and bought an adjustable proportioning valve. This fixed the problem.
Installation: 3-stars. Installation is a bit of a PITA because the output ports are spaced very closely together, with all outputs parallel to each other and facing downward. This is definitely less convenient than the Delco style valve that places the front outputs to the front and the rear output to the rear. With the Delco line arrangement the lines don’t interfere with one another. With the Wilwood arrangement the output lines are spaced too closely together and this guarantees frustration when wrenching on adjacent lines.
This is especially true on my hydroboost/ABS application. Wrenching and line routing is more difficult than a typical Delco-type multi-function valve which spaces the lines father apart and points them in different directions. The difficulty in installing the Wilwood PV is a combined fault of a cramped GM engine bay design and Wildood’s decision to make the valve small and compact with closely spaced ports where the outputs are all lined up side by side. It would be a better product if they made it a little bigger and provided more space between the ports. As the unit is designed you have to start with the rearmost port and work your way forward. You may need to cut your line wrenches in half to make stubby line wrenches. Wrenching the 3 output lines on this PV was more aggravating than wrenching the 5 lines on my 4WAL ABS module. If you’ve ever replaced an ABS module then you know exactly what I’m talking about.
The Wilwood bracket was the proper size to slip right onto the MC mounting studs on my hydroboost equipped GMT400. I did have to shorten the mounting bolt for the hydroboost line holder, as the bolt was too long and blocked the slip-on of the Wilwood bracket, but once that obstruction was removed the Wilwood bracket was a perfect slip-on fit for the MC mounting studs on a modern GM product. The bracket kit was definitely worth the add-on cost, even though I threw away the 3/16 lines and the spacers.
Value: 5-stars. The price for Wilwood’s adjustable system is in-line with the various sources for non-adjustable reproduction systems, and the adjust ability factor is a definite plus.
The downsides: 1) Output Port spacing is very close and could be wider to facilitate wrenching; 2) this is a proportioning-only valve, not a multi-function valve. Be aware of the difference; 3) I do not agree with Wilwood’s insistence on the use of 3/8-24 IF ports for 3/16″ line, and only 3/16 line, and their refusal to support 1/4″ line. Wilwood support tells the customer to convert all of their 1/4″ lines to 3/16″ to be compatible with this product. That is very poor advice. Rear brake lines on drum systems, and MC to PV lines are designed with 1/4″ lines out of necessity to provide adequate flow volume. Converting a high-flow 1/4″ line system to 3/16″ line is not well-advised; 4) I had to shop for 7/16-24 to 3/8-24 conversion fittings to attach standard 1/4″ lines to this prop valve. They were amazingly hard to source. If Wilwood insists on telling customers to convert their 1/4″ lines to 3/16″ they should consider offering the adapters that allow the customers to keep their existing 1/4″ lines.
Overall Rating: 4 stars. It’s not perfect, but it’s a great product. I’d do it again.

Worked out very well on my 1994 GMC K1500. Was replacing the master cylinder due to age and decided to just remove all of the hardware for the ABS. Removed old master cylinder, combination valve, ABS controller and the ABS “dump” valve. Was not able to use the provided brake lines, those must only work with Wilwood master cylinder. Be careful, I have seen Youtube videos of people assuming that the rear port on the master cylinder is for the rear brakes…. NO!!
