I ordered this to replace the one that came on my travel trailer. The threaded part on the original one is plastic and broke under light stress. The new one is all metal and much sturdier. Went together as easily as the old one came out. I wish the is the one that trailer would have originally come with. 5 stars

To clarify: this is an RV holding tank (fresh water, gray water, black water) valve control replacement cable. Easy to install. This is a 6 footer (72″) which is what I needed in my situation. Check out the length of cable you need. If you need a shorter length than 6 feet, this will be a pain to install because you’ll have to find a way to hang the entire length of the cable under your RV as you run it to your valve. Solid construction. Better than the OEM cable that came with the RV.

Our cable sheath separated at the handle 2 days into a 20 day trip. This prevented the blade valve from opening or closing. We got an external valve to finish the trip and as soon as we got home, we ordered this. Install was straight forward. The hardest part was bending the cable on the valve shaft. Not that bad though. Works like new again!!!

The outer sheath us to weak or thin to push the valve in , it just stretches when under a load.

When I tore into this project replacing the sewer dump valve cables, it didn’t take long to see what the problem was. Right from the factory the OEM cables were very short with very tight 4 inch bends, the resistance was so tight I broke one. Otherwise nothing was wrong with the valves or cables, no corrosion or rust, just not a very good build job by the RV manufacturer. .
With these replacement cables being 6 feet long, I was able to route my cables differently with large radiused bends, as per directions. Now my sewer dump valves work effortlessly. I had to move the bracket that held the handle end of the cable assembly to make longer sweeps.
These are sturdier than the OEM with the shroud made of plastic. These are all metal.
I would buy these again.

I purchased this item as a replacement for an existing black tank remote valve handle that broke loose behind the handle where the cable was crimped into the metal. Once I got the underbelly of my fifth wheel opened up and located the actual valve, it was just a matter of loosening the set screw on the cable, along with the two screws that held the cable in place on the valve and the nut that held the handle in place. This allowed me to pull out the old handle/cable and slide the new one in. After reversing the process and tightening everything back up, it worked perfectly once again. The whole process took about 30 minutes. The construction of the replacement handle/cable was actually better than the original – the handle was metal compared to the original plastic, and the crimps looked stronger and tighter. I’m very happy I didn’t need to spend the extra money on the entire remote valve. NOTE: There are no instructions included with this item, so might need to do a little research first before tackling the job to determine where your valve is located, if the fasteners are accessible, etc. All in all I was very impressed with the quality of this item and the price on Amazon.
