Good product, however it should be clearly noted that these do not come with wires. You must dissasemble unit and solder on your own. No problem for people with the equipment and knowledge, however should be stated more clearly for those that can’t do it.

My car tire pump cigarette lighter plug broke, so i needed a replacement plug, and I decided to buy this. It came in a plastic pouch without any instruction. One needs to unscrew the top pin, remove the fuse and spring. Pry the collar, and take off the screw, which allows the body to split into 2. inside, you see the base terminal and the spring plate connected by an LED and a resistor which is lit when plugged into the cigarette ligher. The overall construction looks quite sturdy, and 5* for the value. I am only giving it a 4* for sturdiness because the resistor wire was really flimsy and snapped easily (note: it’s 5* for the plug itself!), and 3* because it was difficult to solder the pump wires to the terminals (need to sand them, and ended up snapping the resistor wire). In the end, it works fine (without the pilot light), and my tire pump works again like a charm. There are similar models that come with lead wires, but I like the clean look of DIY soldering. I just wish it was not that troublesome.

He usado este conector para alimentar un mini-compresor de hinchado de los neumáticos de mi coche y me ha resultado muy complicado realizar las soldaduras del cable eléctrico. De hecho el primer intento fué fallido y estropeé el conector, lográndolo con el segundo.

Not much room for soldering also it’s made of hard brittle plastic.

Perfect replacement for the broken plug on our air compressor, which is a really nice one, so I sure wanted to fix it. This plug was the perfect solution.
I had no problems at all with the process; just takes some common sense and patience. When dissembling the plug, make sure to unscrew the fuse holder first. Remove the tip and retaining ring (two pieces), the silver coupling ring, the fuse, and spring. Then, remove the screw and nut that hold the two halves together. Once apart, carefully remove the terminals from the housing (they are attached to the LED and resister so be careful not to bend them too much.) Place wires through holes and solder. I soldered mine on the inside of the terminals, then cut off the extra wire on the opposite side. I wrapped a piece of electrical tape around the positive terminal as a precaution. Place terminals back into housing, put halves together, insert screw and nut and tighten, then install the tip parts in reverse order as they were removed.
The compressor wires look like they are about 18GA and weren’t hard to work with. While heavier wire might be a bit more difficult, I don’t think it would be a big deal and definitely can be done, with a little care and patience.
The plugs themselves appear to be made well and seem like they will actually hold up better than the original one, which completely broke and fell apart (very cheap plastic). They lock into the sockets nice and securely. They feel solid and they also have an LED indicator that shows that there is power to the plug (nice touch!)
I am completely satisfied with this purchase and glad to have our compressor back up and running, as it is something I use quite often.

There is no where to connect wires. Guess you have to solder them on. Very very difficult to reassemble.

While considering this item I read negative reviews stating that it was difficult to connect the wires inside. I challenge this as I found it extremely quick and easy. Lightly tin the wires, bend into a hook, insert in place, quickly heat with your soldering iron and done.
I believe the most important consideration for this product is that they plug firmly and securely. The make a great mechanical and electrical connection with the receptacle. This is most important for heavy use such as offroad where vibration can loosen things.
The next most important item is the quality of the strain relief. Again, these plugs do very well there. The strain relief inserts are robust and have a large inside diameter if needed for heavier cable. For lighter cable, I used heat shrink to bush the strain relief.
I am very happy with these plugs and will be ordering more. I will be retrofitting the stock plugs on all of my devices with these as they are far superior.

This was a great product and perfect replacement for me. I have a three 12V socket multiplier in my vehicle for some of my warning lights I use as a volunteer firefighter. Recently I blew the fuse in this multiplier. I went to the auto store and bought mini glass fuses (what it APPEARED to have) so I could replace the blown fuse. Big surprise, something like my socket multiplier (which was made in China) had a mini fuse that was PROPRIETARY (i.e. it was more narrow than STANDARD glass mini fuses). I did some research on Amazon and found this two pack. Closer research revealed this DID use STANDARD mini fuses. I ordered and it and it was perfect. Built beefy, high quality, and with an ample solder point for both positive and negative, it will serve the rigors of volunteer fire work in my vehicle. YES you do need to solder, but that’s not hard (least way for me as an amateur radio operator), and it’s not too hard to learn if you’ve never done it before…best part is with a two pack you can use one to practice on before doing your project if need be. I highly recommend this to anyone needing a very sturdy, well built 12V lighter plug.

Good and as advertised, wish it would come with a blank (no fuse) as all my tire compressors already have a fuse in the wiring.
