My new Chevy Silverado didn’t come equipped with a cigarette lighter port. I tow a camper and need this port to power my camper’s back-up camera monitor (which is a Yakry brand I bought on Amazon). Prior to powering up the monitor, I measured the output voltage of this adapter, and it measured spot-on 12.0 Vdc. I then connected the monitor, and everything worked perfectly as it should.
Note that the most common USB-C outputs are 5Vdc, so, as-advertised, the output power of this adapter is limited to 15 watts. In order to get the full 36 watt output the USB-C source has to be capable of 12Vdc, and be Power Delivery (PD) capable, which most aren’t. This is disclosed in the products description.
There is a red indicator that slowly flashes when it’s connected to the typical 5 Vdc USB-C source which could be a distraction when used at night, but this is barely visible with the indicator facing down (or obviously not at all if tucked away and out of sight). Mine will be plugged in where it will be out of sight so no issue what-so-ever for me.
Disgruntled –
These work fine, but the USB-C connector is pretty weak, and one of them bent easily and the connector later popped out. Seems to be a common problem with this type of device.

These are perfect so far, I haven’t had any issues with connectivity or charging speed, at least not obvious issues.

This device plugs into a 5/9/12V USB-C port and provides 12V power as a cigarette lighter outlet. It works very well as long as you understand that:
1) if the USB-C port supplies 5V or 9V, then this adapter limits output power to 15W (1.25A @ 12V). This is going to be the case in most instances. If the USB-C port can supply 12V, then this adapter can supply up to 36W (3A @ 12V) of power. This is only if a USB PD device supports 12V output.
2) When the adapter is limited to 15W, a red LED blinks. This is normal. When the adapter can supply 36W, the red LED stays on continuously.
I think it was a poor design decision for a blinking red LED to indicate normal operation. Most people will see this and think something is wrong. It would have been much better to use a green LED, a yellow/green LED, or even better, two LEDs under a screened “15” and “36” (or “1.25” and “3”).
That said, this adapter does very well in running cigarette lighter plug devices either at home (with a USB-C PD plug that supports 12V output) or in my car (which has a 5V USB-C outlet).

These 12 volt sockets with PD protected USB C attached are intended to step up the 5 volt Type C USB to the 12 volt female socket with an upper limit of 36 watts. These female cigarette plug sockets can readily attach to and power a lower wattage (36W or less) cigarette lighter device. No mention is made of two way comparability, other than that the Type C plug is PD rated. starter boxes, etc. This conversion cable will give you cigarette lighter capability which is bonus to me. I have a GPS low wattage device and two electric coolers which draw more power. This device allows me to expand to three cigarette lighter sockets with high proficiency although you do have to be careful about shutting off the coolers before you shut off the vehicle and avoid plugging them in until after it is running. If you don’t you will blow the 15 watt fuse in your vehicle. I suspect these will work both ways when used in my off grid solar powered cabin. The seller is very conscientious in describing potential issues and makes it clear that this unit may not work in some vehicles (Mazda is one). You can power up the socket using the Type C connection, and the resultant socket can be used to power up devices using a cigarette plug, including car vacuums, automotive GPS, CPAP machines, work lights, rechargeable alkaline battery chargers, electric dog collar chargers and more. These are high quality and versatile, and will prove very useful in my off-grid cabin with only solar and 12 volt deep cycle battery banks.

Most years, my hubby and I attend Burning Man, a huge art event in the desert. That said, very visible bright lights are needed to cycle around the playa at night, for both safety and to be SEEN. We found ourselves needing cigarette lighter adapters to power some of our lights in a pinch.
Not only that, we found this well made reliable adapters useful for portable (lower wattage) fans, and charging out phones out in the desert. Incidentally, there’s a very brief one page instruction manual at the bottom of the box.
I only wish these devices had a higher wattage rating for higher draw items, truth be told. ;o)
