Very useful! Makes a big difference for practice and allowed me to feel safe challenging my son sooner than without the device.

This thing is amazing. Our school cancelled the in the car driving training for drivers ed because of Covid (even though the rest of life is normal here!) So we were told the parents have to do all the driving in addition to the regular 50 practice hours the state requires. So pretty much all the high school kids are supposed to be practicing on their parents cars, out on the road, with no safety brake. It is terrifying to have no ability to keep your kid and your car and everyone else safe and everyone I know keeps saying they don’t take their kid much because it’s awful. I felt that way too, started researching is there a way to install a brake (sooo much money), can you rent a drivers Ed car (no) and then found this. Reviews were good so I figured hey it’s cheap, why not.
Easy to install, just push it onto the thing that the brake is connected to then attach the band to the mirror. When you want to take it off there’s a button you push and you can pull it off the brake. The best part, it works!!! It made it possible to feel safer about taking her out, she got to go practice and now she can drive. 100% BUY THIS, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. So much peace of mind!

We sold an instructor car with the typical instructor pedal and had to pay $200 to remove it. We bought these units in 2019 and have loved them. Countless times we and the road test instructors have used them to slow down an “Enthusiastic” student. They attach quickly to any vehicle and with some rotating to get them in the right position they work great. Two things you have to be aware of. In some states its illegal to have anything dangling from the rear view mirror and secondly when the student pushes hard on the pedal it could rotate the shaft to lock on the brake. You will have to pull up on the device to release its hold on the pedal. Otherwise great device to use!

This is a well made device that will withstand the test of time. It is easy to install and remove. It works great, and you can lock the brakes with no problem. It is out of the way of the driver, and gives Dad a feeling of confidence knowing that he can stop the car form the passenger seat if necessary. It seems a bit pricy, but it is well worth the money.

I looked high and low for how to economically get a brake which I can apply while a relative I was helping out was learning to drive. I looked up passenger side brake kits and they cost 100’s of dollars + installation cost. I could find only one mechanic shop (which also was 15 miles away) who would install such a thing and will again charge many 100’s for the job. The total cost would be affordable and I would end up with a permanently modified car. Then I found this, first I was skeptical, but I thought, I would just return it in case it does not work. But when I got it, it took only 10 seconds to install and it is so easy to operate, it is also well made and sturdy. I am amazed why other people did not think of such a product. I am very happy.

I got this product for my friend who is a driving teacher, he is happy to get it at such a low price compare to other products available in the market. The best feature is, you can quickly put on or remove according to your choice.

So, my 16 yo is learning to drive and I was the lucky one to draw the exclusive privilege of being the designated parent with whom (and in whose car) the kid gets to practice…. So uhm, yeah… the prospect was utterly terrifying for BOTH of us for more or less the same reasons, as it turned out – that they were going to hit the road without a proverbial safety net and expected not to crash and/or injure anyone or anything in the process, all while having no clue what they’re doing and how it’s supposed to be done.
In my humble opinion, at only $100, this contraption is an absolute must have for anyone who’s riding shotgun with a student (and possibly even a newly licensed) driver, for reducing stress levels for both the student and the mentor. My teen (and also their friend whom I’d taken out on their first few practice drives because their parents couldn’t) were visibly more at ease after a quick demonstration of how the Wingbrake works and seeing that an experienced driver will have their back if and when need be.
The contraption comes fully assembled and seems to be decently well made for the job. Installation in the car takes less than a minute, so does taking it off when done. It works EXACTLY as shown in the demo videos, and is stupidly simple and straightforward to operate in real life. Not so much if you find yourselves in a situation where you need to reach over from the passenger seat to take control of the steering wheel AND press the brake at the same time, but thankfully (and hopefully) such circumstances should be few and far between, if at all.
No, using this is not anywhere near as second nature and comfortable as using a foot brake pedal would be. No, it doesn’t cut out acceleration if the driver doesn’t take their foot off the gas pedal at the same time that you press the Wingbrake (RPMs will rev as the car stops, just like pressing gas and break at the same time, because that’s exactly how it works). But yes, the car will decelerate and/or stop if already moving and won’t move from standstill unless the Wingbrake is released. It’s not obtrusive in the car and doesn’t interfere with the driver’s access or control of the wheel, pedals, or any buttons or levers. It doesn’t rattle in my car, though that somewhat depends on how loosely I hang it from the mirror.
It just works, and it keeps me from turning into a hyperventilating anxious wreck in fear for my life next to my student driver. Most of the time, I don’t need to use it at all the entire time we’re driving, but it’s worth every penny to me to know that it’s there if or when we need it. What else is there to say?

I have taught my 4 children to drive. One of my sons has ADHD and learning disabilities. We took a LONG time making sure he was safe but he was very nervous in the beginning, probably more than I was. When I was researching things to help him I came across this item and decided that it could not hurt to give it a try. It made us both more at ease during the first few months. I plastered the van all over with “student driver” magnets and people on the road were kind, courteous and patient (if that was you thank you). I am happy to report that he has been driving for almost 5 years now with ZERO incidents on the road. My younger children have also learned to drive and I have loaned this out to other families who have found it useful in the beginning also. Its the kind of thing they should tell you about at the DMV or Drivers Ed or maybe your insurance agent, I think its great.
