So, this filter DEFINITELY does what it is advertised to do.
I was skeptical at first, I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that id buy the filter for my stock 2015 civic SI because its re-usable. Honda charges $22 per OEM filter where i live and they have to be changed every about 4000km because your fuel mileage, throttle response etc is impacted fairly greatly and $22 4 or more times per year is an absolute waste of money.
So, back to the research. The filter was dyno tested by someone and the results were posted on YouTube. Its not a HUGE boost in hp/tq but there are gains.
Now, in order to acheive this without a tune you have to pull the battery terminals off for long enough that the ECU/MAF sensor have to re-calibrate for the few extra CFM this filter does allow through it vs OEM.
Biggest differences up front were indeed throttle response, acceleration, intake noise increased, it sounds like a K-series engine now and the exhaust note has become a little more defined.
A few other things to note, it did adjust the air fuel mixture enough that the car does not jerk between 1st and second anymore due to the way the RPM hangs/drops between these gears under low rpm shifting and the fuel mileage is notably better under normal driving conditions both city and highway.
Disclaimer: DO your research before you buy one of these expecting gains because this is not the same case with all cars.

Great filter at a great price, first of all. I did have some slight alignment issues with getting it in place properly on a 2014 Civic Si but it eventually snapped in place and everything was good.
In terms of horsepower gains, there really is none. Just for the heck of it, we put the car on a dyno after changing the filter and “lost” 1.5 HP. I say “lost” in quotes because we probably actually broke even on horsepower as there are always going to be slight fluctuations on a dyno. Keep in mind, however, that this was put on a bone stock car. If I also added headers and exhaust, with the higher CFM rating of this filter, we WOULD have HP gains with the filter although it would again be hard to tell how much came from the filter versus the header, or exhaust.
Detailed specs on this particular filter:
It’s made of a wire wrapped cotton gauze material which can easily be washed out and reused. K&N recommends every 50k miles; I’d personally cut that in half to 25k miles. I changed over to this filter when my car had *k miles on it and it was already black from dust and debris. It literally takes 15 seconds to take the filter out, 10 minutes to clean it, let it dry, and oil it, and another 15 seconds to replace it.
*** RE-OILING AMOUNT ***
I get asked by customers all the time at my shop about how much oil they need to put on the new filter. K&N recommends 0.85 ounces which can be verified on their website, and I say 1 ounce. Keep that in mind before you go dumping 4 ounces of oil into the freshly cleaned filter. The #1 problem I see when customers bring in cars with these filters is over oiling. It drips everywhere and even worse, it gets sucked up into the MAF and towards the intake and it’s a pain in the butt to clean out.
The filter is durable! It’s not made of the cheap “orange FRAM foam”; instead, it’s made from some nice, soft, yet sturdy rubber material that should last the lifetime of your car.
*** USE THIS FILTER, OR A “SHORT” COLD ARE INTAKE? ***
THIS FILTER! THe short “cold” air intakes actually suck air right from the engine compartment and on a hot day, that would raise your incoming air temperate to 75 degrees or higher than the outside air temperature. I’ve seen air temps approaching 200 degrees F being thrown into the engine. The whole idea of a COLD air intake is to have COLD air being sucked into the motor. That said, either get a full cold air intake that’s taking air from outside the car, or, use this filter. Both are good options.
*** TECH SPECS ***
Not that any of these are too important but I thought I’d throw them in here in case anyone was interested:
Height: 1.063 in (27 mm)
Length: 10.188 in (259 mm)
Width: 6.375 in (162 mm)
Weight: 0.9 lb (0.4 kg)

Queda perfecto en un Civic Si 2015 2.4

My Car: 2012 Civic Si
I bought this filter to hold me over until I have time to completely replace the intake. I’ve bought K&N filters in the past and have always been pleased with the performance. K&N says you get 50% better air flow and 1-4 hp increase. I don’t know about the HP increase – maybe 1 or 2. However throttle response seems to be a bit quicker along with slightly faster revs – along with a more throaty intake sound. It will be a while beore I can report on an MPG gains.

Noticed a slight increase in intake noise and a minor increase in fuel economy. Overall its a very good quality filter. Fitment was perfect for a 2015 Civic Si

I always buy a K&N lifetime filter for my vehicles. This filter is no exception, excellent quality, durability, comes with 2 stickers, one for the airbox telling your mechanic not to throw it away, and the other is the K&N decal you can put on your window if you’re a redneck. Make sure to buy the cleaner pack with the oil. K&N recommends you do it every 50,000 miles, but I do it about every 20,000 because I live in the desert where we have haboob’s and dust galore. If anyone says they can feel more power and gains from this air filter… it’s likely that they are just really excited about it and I don’t think you will notice a difference in noise or power… HOWEVER i do believe it can make a difference in fuel economy and better air intake quality… ultimately resulting in a better, cleaner, leaner running vehicle. Just buy one already rather than using the cheap FRAM or other ones that only last 5000 miles.

Put this bad boy into a 2015 Honda civic Si coupe (Yes it says it doesn’t fit but I believe that’s for the r18. It fits into the K24 Airbox perfectly!) Chose this option as it was a good way to reduce waste and didn’t break the bank. Compared to the stock air filter its about half the size. It’s not gonna give you monstrous gains but there is a noticed difference in acceleration feel, the throttle response definitely improves in my opinion.

I have been dabbling with the idea of purchasing this for a few of my cars. I now have a 2015 Civic Si Sedan and finally bought this for it, I forgot I hadn’t changed my air filter. I did the cabin one and swore I changed the engine paper one but didnt and on inspection it was disgusting hahaha. I was wondering why my fuel mileage was crappy and on acceleration the car felt hesitant. Right away there is a HUGE size difference in the oem filter and this K&N one. The K&N is much thinner. Like half the size of the oem filter. It has an oil on it also, leave it on it’s suppose to be there. Came with a K&N Sticker for your car and another Sticker that goes on your air box so whoever is Servicing you vehicle then don’t go and toss the filter. Took me 2 minutes to put in. I didn’t notice a fuel change, sound or difference in throttle response until after a few hundred miles. My Si gained 5-8 mpg, a slight more pep to it and a definite obvious sound difference. Like 15-20% of the full sound of a cai. Trust me it’s a noticeable sound. I’m Definitely happy with it. I ended up getting the cleaning kit for the filter for only 4$ on EBay. I do recommend buying this Drop in filter. Biggest difference is mpg’s, then the sound, and the throttle. Don’t expect a CAI difference from this cause you aren’t going to get it unless maybe you have a duel intake system.

Perfect replacement for my NSX. Always love K&N Filter. No issues with oil or sensor issues after 7000kms so far. Will be doing the first cleaning after storage this year

It improved the mpg in my 2013 Civic Si by about 8-10 mpg vs the stock air filter. I also noticed smoother acceleration, shifting and increased power. No joke. My Si is a better car with this simple drop in. 100% as advertised. I’m very pleased. It’s amazing how a little drop in filter can make such a big difference in performance. I had a stock integra gs-r that I installed an aem cai with a cone K&N filter. I didn’t notice anything really over stock. So I wanted to try just a drop in on the newer Si. HUGE difference. It’s a better car with this simple drop in and took like 2 seconds to install vs a cai setup which costs hundreds more and takes longer to install. Plus, I like the stock look so this is perfect. Just drop in and put the K&N sticker on the airbox. This is all the mod I need not to mention have time for at this time in my life. Thank you K&N for a great product that will last a long time and is washable and reusable.
