My 99 Mustang’s key fob broke off of the keychain, and I was just looking for a replacement case since the internals worked. Much to my surprise, it costs <$10 for an entirely new working fob!
It was really easy to set up the fob – instructions are included, but it’s basically just turning the key 8 times in the ignition until the doors lock and unlock, then you feel like you’re performing some kind of satanic ritual. Both the old fob and this new one work perfectly after reprogramming.
The fob is roughly the same size as OEM, maybe a little larger. The buttons are definitely a little bigger, and they’re much firmer (which isn’t a bad thing, the old 20+ year old fob had pretty mushy buttons).
My only problem is that the alarm button is way too easy to hit. I kept hitting it when I would take the keys out of my pockets or put them back in. I would accidentally press it at least once or twice a week.
Overall, a good buy at $10. Would purchase again

I bought this for my boyfriend’s 2001 Mustang GT. When he purchased the car, it didn’t come with an existing key fob. He’s been talking about wanting to get one to make locking and unlocking the doors easier but he was telling me that he would probably have to pay a lot for a fob because of the fact that his car didn’t already come with one. I ordered this one anyway, and it worked just great! It was super easy to program.
All I did was turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times, within 10 seconds. And then the locks cycled. And then all you have to do is press lock and unlock on the fob to make sure it is synced with the car. Took like 3 minutes to do and so worth the price! Not to mention the fact that it came with a battery as well! Also it shipped very fast! He loved it and now he owes me a gift 😂 Thanks again!

My old one still works but the little loop to put a key ring around broke off, so I had it hanging on my keys with a do-it (little plastic sticker with a hole retailers use for small hanging merchandise) and was tired of changing the do-it every week because it’s adhesive would dry out from all the wear and tear of having keys in your pocket. Now I can keep my keys hanging from belt loop like I’m used to again.
This remote so easy to set up especially if you done it before. Just move the key from off to run (without starting the engine) about 8 times in a row (quick it needs to be less than 10 seconds) leaving it in run when the locks cycle indicating program mode. Then press any button on your remote(s) Andrew they are programmed. All buttons work and I may just be crazy but I think this amazon keyfob has a longer range than the factory Ford ones. Seems I could do the lock beep from much further away now. Only programmed this about 10 min ago so I will update this review if something crazy happens but as of right now 5 stars all the way bro. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a new keyfob or never had one but has a compatible vehicle. Thanks!

Worked right out of the box and any YouTube video can help, no need to download the app. My trunk button works, my alarm button works, and my locking buttons work! It’s perfect for what it is!

I bought this as a replacement to the second key fob. It came in the mail faster than I was expecting it. The programming was extremely simple and easy to follow. The only downside that I’ve seen so far with this key fob is that I had to replace the battery in it after only having it a couple weeks. It works great most of the time, but occasionally you have to push the button more than twice to get it to unlock the passenger door. Not sure why it does this, but it’s not a big problem for myself. If I continue to have that problem or it becomes more of a problem then I will just likely buy another one as the price is cheap.

Keeping in mind that I just got these remotes and they could break/die somewhere down the road, I can only really comment on their comparability to the stock Ford remotes I’ve had as long as I’ve had my 2001 mustang. Should they stop working abruptly, I’ll be sure to edit this. These remotes look almost identical to the stock ones, but the paint/ink on the four buttons is slightly different. I don’t see why this would upset anyone, but I just wanted to throw it out there in case someone is way too serious about keeping their car totally stock.
These are a bit heavier than the stock ones and they seem a shade smaller by comparison. I never really liked the soft buttons on the stock remotes because I couldn’t always tell if I pressed them hard enough to work. For example, if it’s cold outside and I want to just unlock/lock the doors without actually looking at the remote, it’s difficult to tell with the gel buttons on the stock remotes. These are also gel but they feel closer to plastic than the stock ones. They also make a clicking sound when you press them, so I consider that a plus. This may not matter to you at all. Matter of opinion, I suppose.
The range still seems limited but I attribute that to the car, not the remotes. My stock remote would only register keystrokes within about 20 yards and these new ones have the same range. My mom’s 2008 Suzuki can be locked or unlocked from a football field away, so I’m not sure what’s up with Ford on that front. Importantly, however, these replacement remotes work just as well from range.
Programming them took 15 seconds and it’ll literally take you longer to read these directions than it will to actually get these working. Simply take them out of the mailing envelope and carry them out to your mustang. Using your key, turn the ignition on (don’t start the car, just turn it on) and off eight times. Each cycle of on-and-off should take about a second; don’t feel like you need to rush and snap your starter. On the eight cycle, the car doors will lock and unlock and that’s your cue to program your remotes. Each mustang can have up to four remotes programmed at once, so do what I did and keep your stock ones active too! To program, simply press the lock button on each remote after the eight cycles. You’ll hear the car lock and unlock each time a remote has been programmed. Simply turn the car off and test out as many remotes as you have and then you’re all good to go!
