I’m never going to be able to install this because it looks incredibly complicated and has waaay too many wires for just any average person to install. Plus, I believe if you’re really not sure what you’re doing, you could really mess up a lot of important things and then be stuck without.
It comes with instructions, and one review mentioned it took an hour to install; however, without proper knowledge, I fear it could take forever or be done wrong.
I really thought it would be a great upgrade, especially with an onscreen navigation system, which the 2018 RAV4 was lacking. I do think the advertisement should have more detailed information concerning installation.
I have installed a car radio before; however, that was way, way back in the day when it was a lot more simple.

This 10.1″ touchscreen car radio is fantastic! The wireless CarPlay and Android Auto work flawlessly, and the backup camera is crystal clear. Love the 5G WiFi and Bluetooth seamless connectivity. Perfect fit for my 2016 RAV4, and the sound quality is amazing. Highly recommend!

This is a very nice looking replacement stereo for my 2015 Rav4 XLE. I had to wait a while for time to install it, but once the weather was conducive installation went quick.
Removal: pulling the old stereo out was fairly simple. The long top dash trim piece and the side vents pulled off by hand, then there were four 10mm bolts to remove that held the stereo in. After that, we simply unplugged all the cables and connections from the back of the stereo.
Installation: The single piece of paper instructions left a little to be desired. It did help in determining which of the many wiring harness adapters were needed, and fortunately, each of the plugs were all different enough that each only had one place they could plug in. We were able to use the existing OEM backup camera by simply plugging it in to one of the yellow video plugs and modifying one setting on the stereo (specified in the user manual). Test everything before attaching the bezel into the car in case something needs to be adjusted/plugged in different on the back. That’s how we realized the backup camera wasn’t plugged into the correct plug.
It’s good to note this about the vents on the sides of the stereo bezel. The original vent flaps were in separate little housings on the sides of the stereo. On this new one, the bezel is part of the stereo mount. You’ll need to carefully remove the adjustable vent flaps from the old housing and install them in the new, but that’s relatively simple.
Also to note: the original stereo was held in by four bolts. The new one is held in place by the clips that hold the vents in. As they were separate from the stereo originally, the bolts were necessary. Since the vents are now part of the whole bezel assembly, the whole thing is held in by the clips that hold the vents in place. It did take a bit of finagling to get the top trim piece that goes from the driver’s side of the stereo all the way to the far right side of the dash into place. You kind of have to get it mostly in place, then wedge the left end behind the radio screen but in front of the vent mount clip before clipping it all into place.
Once everything is installed, the new stereo looks like it has been part of the car since it was new. The screen is big and bright, and everything seems to work fine. Like any new and different car stereo, it takes a bit to get everything set up and learn the new system. My phone connected quickly in the settings. The apps (like Google Maps, Spotify, SiriusXM) work great through Android Auto. Overall, this is a decent upgrade kit.

original infotainment system had 4 screws bolting it in place. this has.. nothing and relies on a filmsy dashboard piece to hold it in place. minus a star.
no video instructions, took 2 hours end to end, turned out pretty simple. functional out of box, hope it lasts

2014 RAV4 Super easy to install. Yes, instructions were a bit thin, but there are many YouTube videos with detailed instructions that made this a snap. Literally took 30 minutes from start to finish. Still trying to sort through all the options, but the screen is gorgeous. Touch is very sensitive. Great sound. Works with my wife’s CarPlay wirelessly.

This 10.1-inch touchscreen head unit makes driving my RAV4 much more enjoyable. It was easy to install and hook up to the car’s factory wiring harness. Of course, I had a friend who had some prior experience installing stereo equipment to help me and I also checked the internet. The radio worked great after it was hooked up. The touch screen made it easy to navigate through the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay interfaces. The display was sharp, with high resolution, and it looked even better on the large screen.
