I was somewhat skeptical about this having seen hit or miss experiences about using Wireless Carplay Adapters and only having functionality in certain vehicle makes and models. For what it’s worth, I absolutely love this wireless carplay adapter – it works great in the Hyundai Palisade. It automatically connects to my phone when I get in, I don’t have to worry about plugging in a phone – I just start the car and go!
Perhaps the best feature of this adapter is that it (most likely inadvertently) disables the nanny state of not being able to type in a destination when the car is moving. Using the Carplay in a wired fashion yields only the ability to use Siri to put a destination in the Carplay system. For some reason, when using this adapter, the keyboard input functionality is available at all times. Love that a passenger can type in a destination as opposed to having to goad Siri into recognizing it.
Now, there have been some situations where I didn’t get music to play, and the dongle had to be unplugged and plugged back in to get it to work, but it’s a five second problem. Took off one star for that. But if you want the ability to go wireless with carplay, I heartily endorse this.

I recently requested the Wiftrebbian Mini Wireless Carplay Adapter from Amazon Vine because a previous model I reviewed had great performance (basically indistinguishable from wired) but its physical size, while smaller than many previous generation wireless CarPlay adapters, was still obtrusive. This GC2 model from Wiftrebbian completely solved the issue of getting easy access into the center console of my Volvo XC40, where I lay my iPhone on the inductive charging pad while I’m driving.
The unit is not only half the size of the previous model I tried, but it snaps into the USB A port firmly and doesn’t wobble. Setup time was under a minute as it connects easily via Bluetooth and then makes a Wi-Fi connection to your iPhone as well for even faster connection speeds. Make sure your iPhone isn’t connected to anything else via Bluetooth (like Airpods) or Wi-Fi (like your home’s router as its coverage probably reaches into the garage) before you get started for best results.
There’s also an indicator on the end of the dongle, facing you, that lights up a cyan color to let you know it’s on (and this lets you verify it turns off when you leave the car, too; I like this feature). The boot time was between 5 and ten seconds, which is about how long the Volvo takes to go through its diagnostic checks and boot up CarPlay on the center console anyway. Once connected, I could choose apps, start and stop songs, start and stop navigation instructions, etc., without any perceivable lag, meaning just as responsive as when plugged in with a cable.
There a other latest-generation wireless CarPlay adapters that are this small, and many are less expensive but come with older Bluetooth or Wi-Fi software. One of them might work for you if you have an older iPhone that doesn’t support the latest versions anyway, but I can verify this one fits the bill if you want one that “just works without any fuss”. It has a great build quality, comes with a pleasantly-hued LED indicator, and seems to perform on par with a physical cable to my iPhone, without the hassle of plugging/unplugging every time I get in and out of the vehicle.
