I wanted to like this item but there is a fatal flaw (IMO) that really limits its usefulness which precludes me from awarding it a high rating. The wing knob of the suction base can hit either the ball joint or the tension knob for the ball joint in certain positions. You really need to be aware of what the ultimate orientation will be particularly when you are moving the shaft 90 degrees to the suction cup base (see photos). Similar issue on the magnetic side. It may take several attempts to find just the right orientation to make it work. Other than that issue, the build quality is good and is in line with what you expect from Ulanzi. I have several products from them and I typically have had good experiences. This one is a bit finicky at best and if you don’t want to mess around with with a mount this may not be the one for you.

There are a lot of suction and magnetic phone mounts out there. I have a lot of camera gadgets and tripods from Ulanzi and so I know they have good quality items at fair costs.
This did not dissapoint and stands out for a few features. The extension is actually helpful. I have been using it in the car because I drive full time. When I stop for a break, I can turn off my GPS and watch a video. It is nice that I can quickly reposition it and actually bring it right in front of my face for this.
Also, the components use a standard 1/4-20 thread, so you can switch the suction cup out for a clamp or adapt it to attach to a tripod. So in that way, just the rod is like a magic arm. The two clamps at the ends are decent. They are plastic but they seem strong enough. Tightening them secures the ball-head angle and the rotation on the rod. There is no way to lock the extension of the rod but it is relatively stiff, so it does not seem like it will want to drift in or out on its own, even when a phone is attached.
The suction cup is super sticky and I like this design of sucking the air out with this big twist lever. It is solid. And the top part that the ball head of the rod threads into is aluminum, so you can really screw it in there without worrying about stripping the threads. That being said, in the car, you do have to be mindful of the angle you have everything mounted. No mount of this type in existence will stay at an odd angle for long with all the vibrations of driving. The best way to mount it is so that any vibration puts stress “clockwise” if that makes sense. If it is putting counter-clockwise pressure from road vibration, eventually it will dethread itself.

I really need to read descriptions more closely. I missed the words “car” and “windshield” and thought this would be a convenient thing to attach to a wall or a nightstand so I could see my phone without cramping my arthritic hands. Before the light dawned, I put my iPhone on the magnet (which is very strong) and tried the suction cup on my glass-top dining table. It worked well. But when I tried it on my nightstand and the wall behind me, the suction cup was a no-go. And that’s when I went back to the product description and discovered that it’s meant for use in the car. Duh.
Aside from that minor mistake, I could see that this car mount had some issues that would be car-related. The tightening elements were not strong enough for driving on anything but a totally smooth surface. The plastic is low quality and the tighteners don’t hold reliably. I can just imagine driving over a minor pothole and having the whole apparatus, plus phone, suddenly falling into me. I just don’t think its safe. For that reason, I can’t recommend using this in a car. If you have a glass nightstand and arthritic hands, you could give it a shot.

This item isn’t usable in any capacity. I have tried everything to get the suction cup for this phone mount to adhere to simple, clean glass, but nothing has worked. The suction cup came with a cellophane protective wrap that stuck to it, so at first I thought there was some residue on it that was keeping it from adhering, but even after scrubbing it clean with dish soap, it just won’t adhere.
The magnet might have saved it, as PERHAPS I could have justified using an adhesive pad to mount this somewhere and still gotten some use out of it, but the magnet is so weak. I have a brand name MagSafe case, and it still barely wants to stick to it. Just save your money and buy a different mount.
The 1 star I gave it is because the gyroscopic wand it comes with is compatible with universal tripod screw mounts, so I can at least find a use for that part. The extendable part is actually the only part of this that is well made, and it doesn’t move once you’ve tightened things into position. Otherwise, this isn’t worth the money, and has terrible build quality.

Works very well compared to the ones that are popular on tiktok right now. I have better placement when I’m making my videos because it can extend and with the swivel head and base, it allows for great angles. It sticks very well to flat surfaces so windows, white board etc. If you find that you’re having a hard time getting it to stick to your table or desk, try adding some pressure to the base and then lock it. Very sturdy and it is not flimsy at all and the magnetic capacity is very strong, it doesn’t hold very well for iPhones when you have a phone cover that doesn’t have a magnetic circle.

I own several ULANZI products and they are all functional, well built, and great quality. This item in particular intrigued me because of the suction cup and let me tell you, it holds up very well. The magnet also has a strong hold and holds my heavy iPhone 16 Pro Max very well. As far as the suction is concerned, it adheres well and stays put. If you’re thinking of getting an item like this when you can mount your phone virtually anywhere, look no further.
