I really do not understand the bad reviews about the crush gasket not being included with this filter – it is hardly a reason to downgrade the stars on the actual filter. The listing here does not mention the crush gasket being included with the filter. Come on people, read the listing in its entirety before you get mad about it. Also, for those paying six dollars for a single crush gasket, do yourself a favor and go to a subaru dealer and ask the parts counter to grab you a couple, they are not six dollars at a dealer.
For those who are looking for a review on the actual product (the oil filter), I will happily extend my thoughts.
-I like these filters because they are a direct factory replacement – same engineering, same bypass pressure, everything.
-I enjoy how these filters come in a disposable box and have a heat shrunk seal around them, closing off the internals of the filter. Cleanliness is important to us!
-I also really like how the O-ring is designed on this filter. Inside the groove it sits in, it is not so tight that you cannot remove it to apply a film of new oil and there’s little to no chance that the old O-ring will come off when removing the old filter.
-The part numbers are large and easy to read on this filter so replacement is easy.
Overall, these filters are exactly what you would expect from Subaru. I haven’t had any issues running them on my FA20.

Own a Subaru? Use the OEM Oil filter! Best bang for your buck and you know it’s going to be the best for your Subie! I run mine for 3500 miles before changing out, “recommended” is 6k, but for the longevity of my motor – 3500 is my oil change mileage. Isn’t always easy to remove but living on the east coast.. unavoidable. It’s the oil filter I choose everytime.

This filter works great. I have purchased these 3 times without any drama.
Things to note:
-This does not include a crush washer, that’s the reason for 4 ⭐️ s.
I have a Fumitomo valve (highly recommend, look it up!), so this is a non issue for me.
To install this:
-Spin off the old one while you are changing the oil. Depending on where or who installed the last one this can be troubling. A Belt style filter removal tool may help here.
– Let it sit for a moment after it is unscrewed to drain excess oil.
– Remove, keep a paper towel handy to get the excess oil that will drip off of it
-Wipe out the area where the filter was sitting, I usually clean the threads.
-Lube inside of new filter with a little bit of new oil so it spins on and off easily with next change.
-Tighten down. Hand tightening is sufficient. Don’t get crazy or the next time you go to remove it you’ll shear the oil filter housing off (ask me how I know)
