ACDelco A3147C Professional Air Filter
This is the OEM replacement air filter for a 2012 Cadillac SRX. I.e., it’s identical to the one GM installs in a new vehicle.
If you’ve never done it before, for an SRX:
– facing the engine compartment from the hood tip, the air cleaner box is on the very left.
– unscrew the stainless clamp around the 4″ rubber air hose and slip the hose loose.
– unsnap the three clips holding the top of the air-box halves together.
– remove the top half of the air-box and swing to the side, out of the way.
– remove the old filter, note the positioning of the pre-filter, and remove the dirty filter
– vacuum any debris from the bottom of the air-box
– insert the new filter, aligning the same as the old filter.
– press the filter edges down firmly all around, especially the side away from the engine (exposing the three slots for the air-box top to slip into).
– slip the three slots from the air box top into the three receiving holes in the air box bottom and press the whole thing down — the two halves must align perfectly.
– re-snap the three clips that hold the air-box halves together.
– slip the rubber hose back on all the way and tighten the clamp.
– congratulate yourself for doing it yourself. My Cadillac dealer wanted $125 to replace the engine filter!

I’m a mechanical capable guy (own oils changes, replace front suspension bushings, tire changes, etc.) and routine maintenance is fine and dandy. This filter is a solid AC Delco product – high quality and well built. It does exactly what it should. The issue I have is with GM Cadillac SRX ’15 and air filter replacement. Most air filters are easy to get to and with 3 or 4 clips you’re done. For some reason Cadillac requires you to remove the outlet air hose from the filter box. Ok – not a huge deal but now you need a tool. Then to remove the top of the air box you have to lift up and pull the top off with ~1/3 of it under the body panel. Then you get it out and then you have to wrestle the new one in. You have to make sure it is in the right position or you can pinch it.
Summary – filter is great. Install and ease of install overly complicated for something that should take 30 seconds turns into a 5-10 minute “is it seated right” adventure
