This model of Fuel pump pictured here is not the one you will receive. You will receive one that has been redesigned, and therefore not compatible with air temperature sensor that you have to harvest and reuse (from the old style pictured here). The pump you should order, after calling bosch, is pump 69889. This is the redesigned pump with the air temperature sensor included. In essence, this is the pump without the sensor and is more expensive than ordering the 69889 which already includes the sensor. No brainer. Bosch updates products from time to time so compatibility issues over time always happen. Don’t buy this and order 69889 instead save money, time, and headache.

After reading the warnings from other reviewers I had to dig out my soldering iron to rewire Fuel Temperature Sensor. With a little bit of soldering experience ( you need unsolder two wires ) the whole fuel pump swap took 30minutes and worked flawlessly. Really. Given that this is less then half the price of what the OEM charges, I am not complaining! Awesome deal! Like the other reviewer, I have 2003 SE-R SPEC-V with fuel pump TSB on it

Granddaughters fuel pump quit and had to replace it in her apartment parking lot. From watching several U-tube videos it was noted that I had to remove a piece on the old pump and solder it on the new pump. Also several videos noted that you needed to buy the o-ring to seal to the gas tank separate.
This pump came with everything needed, did not have to switch anything from old pump and o-ring was included. Very easy installation and works great.

I don’t know how much more involved pulling the fuel pump from the original housing would have been, but replacing the entire housing with the fuel pump already installed sure did make this an easy ‘pull-and-drop’ installation. ** UPDATE: See below **
The reason I changed the entire housing is because I have an 04 Sentra SE-R Spec V and there was a Nissan service bulletin (NTB05-052a) which was a fuel-pump repair kit. The repair kit itself was over $200 from the dealer, plus my fuel pump was not maintaining adequate pressure, so not only was this easier to install, but also saved me quite a bit of money as well.
I didn’t want to install the Nissan-branded fuel pump because it is known to have issues and need replacing every ~60K miles. I went with Bosch for ease of installation and company reputation.
I recommend this kit if you have an 04-06 Sentra and have been plagued with any kind of hard-starting issue and/or fuel pressure issue that might be observed by a drop in engine RPMs.
** UPDATE: you will have to do a bit of wiring since the new fuel pump housing does NOT include the Fuel Temperature Sensor, although it is shown in the picture (at the very bottom of the fuel pump housing (Blue and Black wires). The housing comes bare and also with no instructions! It’s definitely misleading since the picture clearly shows the Temperature sensor in-place. If you’re getting the P0183 after installation, this is your issue. Transfer the Fuel Temp Sensor over from your old Fuel Pump housing and your code should be cleared and not return. I threw my old housing away too soon and had to pick up the part from the Junk Yard– 35 miles away! Hard lesson learned.
*** 2nd UPDATE: I contacted Bosch AutoPart Customer Service and was able to talk with a Bosch parts specialist: The Bosch 69701 Electric Fuel pump does NOT have support for CA emissions, hence the lack of Fuel Tank Temp Sensor. The 69701 is only made for Federal Emissions vehicles. Therefore Bosch does not supply the Fuel Tank Temperature Sensor and 69701 is actually not compatible with my 04 Sentra SE-R Spec V.

Looks like the price jumped after I got mine (from $80 to over $300). Nearly a drop-in replacement for my ’03 Sentra Spec-V. Here are the caveats:
– You need to install the fuel temp sensor from your old pump on this new one. A simple task if you have a soldering iron (I used the whole wire assembly from the old unit to make it real simple).
– You SHOULD get a replacement o-ring. It is part #17342 at courtesyparts.com. I called them since it actually isn’t listed for the ’03 2.5L engine and it’s not even mentioned in the Nissan factory service manual. They weren’t much help and I decided to go without one. Alas, the ’03 2.5L Sentra gas tank does have an o-ring, and I did not have a replacement ready. So I spent a good 20 minutes getting the old one to sit in place long enough to drop the new pump in before it jumped out of place again. If you want to avoid that frustration, buy a new one (about $15 more).
A few installation things worth noting:
– Before even attempting a replacement, run your gas tank to near empty. It’s a lot easier to deal with an empty tank than one completely full of fuel. Also open all windows on the car and keep your garage open (or pull the car outside first) to prevent any gas fume buildup.
– To reduce the pressure on the fuel line remove the fuel pump fuse and crank the engine for awhile. Then still be prepared for fuel to come out when you remove the fuel line from the pump. I used a ton of paper towels and slowly attempted to remove it 3 times before I could completely take it off without fuel spraying out.
– Have something ready to put the old pump in. I used an old small litter box. Then rotate it around to get the rest of the fuel to drain out of it. Don’t put this fuel back in your tank (it’s most likely full of dirt now). Let the old pump dry out for 15-20 minutes before attempting to desolder the temp sensor.
– When soldering, do this far away from your car. I found it easiest to keep the whole fuel level/temperature wire harness together from the old pump and solder it to the new pump (removing the black wire that came with the new pump and using the old one instead).
– Don’t overtighten the bolts. The service manual calls for 18-22 inch-lbs, which is a very light tightening with a wrench.
– When priming the new pump I got at least one cylinder misfire from lack of fuel in the cylinder. This caused the check engine light to come on. Since it wasn’t a real problem it turned off on its own after driving around for awhile. If your check engine light doesn’t turn off (or specially if it starts flashing) get it checked out soon. Flashing means damage could be occuring.
Pretty easy install overall though. Only took a couple hours (and I really took my time), but could be done in less than an hour if you wanted to speed through it.
