This 3M Perfectit pad is the best tor finessing the final finish whether restoring an existing finish or perfecting a newly painted surface. The waffle pattern on the surface reduces heat buildup. The pad is quite durable, capable of being machine washed, and lasts through many uses. I used a lot of foam pads from different manufacturers but this is the best final finish pad on the market.

We use this in a 3 step restoration (along with models 5723 & 5725 & the 3 rubbing compounds) of headlights and whole vehicles and love it. Definitely a must have for polishing!! If taken care of, they’ll last you a good amount of time!!

For a final seal, we use Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze 21 and this polishing pad.
This pad uses a hook/loop (Velcro) attachment system.
The combination of this ultrafine foam polishing pad with the Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze, leaves the finish of our car, mirror like. Very happy with this final polishing pad.
After use, we thoroughly rinse the pad out when finished. The glaze is a pain to rinse out of the pad as the glaze doesn’t want to rinse out of the pad. That’s not a knock on the pad or the glaze, just a comment that the glaze is stubborn about rinsing out of the pad. I let the pad air dry and when time to reuse the pad, I wet (dampen) the pad before applying fresh sealant to the pad.
As long as the pad is well treated (thoroughly cleaned and rinsed of any finish scratching debris), this pad will provide you with long service. How long of service will depend on the individual as nobody wants scratches to develop in their finish due to not replacing their finishing pad.
Just saying, our car has a thirteen year old, never been garaged finish so I’m a bit more forgiving than one might be who has a hundred thousand dollar car that’s showroom fresh.
This is a beautiful product that does a killer job bringing out the final sealant finish on your paint. Agreed, a lot of effort goes into getting to this final step and I feel total comfortable recommending this product for a final finish pad.

Never used polishes before but boy are the results amazing! I have come to trust the 3M brand with all applications they make and this was no different. When paired with 3M 06068 Perfect-It Ultrafine Machine Polish – 1 Quart the results were amazing. I wish I knew about this stuff earlier, I used it on every part of the car, paint, glass and even black plastic trim! This results in a super smooth finish that shines deep.
The most amazing part that I found was the results on faded black plastic trim. I thought I was going to have to use back to black or some other trim conditioner but after a simple pass with the buffer and polish the gray/whitish spots disappeared and what was left was dark black trim with no need for extra conditioners. Not only saving the extra time not having to follow up with trim conditioner but saving the money on not having to buy that stuff.
Also to note, I used a 6″ buffer with this 8″ pad and did not have any issues. I have the Griot’s Garage 10765LNGCRD 6-Inch Random Orbital Polisher which has a Hook backing which was fully compatible with this 3M HookIt pad.
Highly recommend this pad!
