Sent 2 rt side instead of 1 ea. Company had great customer service and sent out another. That one was wrong part. Drilled out product to make fit and called it a day. Either part said it fit my Subaru, but none of the holes lined up

Ordered both right and left side. Received just that. Left side missing new bolt and no ball. Right side bracket bolt holes misaligned in manufacturing. Had to cut old struts to use old ball mount. Cut old right side bracket off strut to use on new strut. More than bolt on and go!

Pretty disappointed with this product. I intentionally bought the struts that included the bracket to simplify the install process. Sadly the holes on the bracket did not align with the holes on my vehicle. I confirmed that I ordered the correct part for my car but the holes were off a millimeter or two so I wasn’t able to get it to fit.

Editing this… My expectations and upon reading the instructions from the the seller, was that I could remove the ball bolt from the original liftgate. On the 2017 Subaru Outback, you can not. This really needs to come with replacement ball bolts, as I started the process & then after realizing I couldn’t remove them from the original part I stopped. After 3 different autoparts stores I found the correct ones. A lot of wasted time for a really inexpensive part.
Also the holes weren’t a great match. Would I buy these again? Probably not if I knew the hassle… maybe with the ball bolt included I could’ve looked over not an exact match on the holes. I guess it’s that old proverb, you get what you pay for.

I have a 2015 Subaru Outback. The OEM gas springs had a ball & socket assembly that did not have a release mechanism. The retention clips were one-time inserts. As this replacement kit did not have new ball posts for the door side of the springs, I had to use a grinder and cut-off wheel to break open the sockets and retrieve the ball posts from the old assembly. After extracting the ball posts from the old assembly, I was able to use them again. The new assembly fit without any further modification.
If you do not wish to cut the steel sockets open, I would advise ordering replacement ball sockets. Ideally, this manufacturer should include them in the kit just as they included the whole ball and socket assembly for the door frame end of the springs.

I bought these for my 2015 Subaru Outback. I would have given 5 stars, but I paid extra for the ones with the brackets. I thought that would be the easiest and safest way to replace these. NOPE…Their brackets did not sink up with the holes on the car from the OEMs that were originally on there. The screws wouldn’t go in straight, and when we thought we had it, the screw broke off inside the frame. We broke a ton of drill bits trying to tap it out. When we finally did get it out, it left a bigger hole than what I had. I took them off the brackets they came with and used my old OEM brackets. Works great now. Save you some money, stress, and drill bits and buy the ones withOUT the brackets. It was easy as a Sunday morning swapping them out!!

The lifts fixed the problem and work well. The bad news is that the holes in the angle iron top bracket did not match the threaded holes in the car frame – even after filing the round hole larger. Not sure why these came with that bracket so I just installed using the original brackets. Worked fine.
