I used Liquid Glass for decades, but then the formula seemed to change and it wasn’t as durable. So I read reviews online and got MPT. It seemed to be just like the old-style Liquid Glass. It says to put it on a section at a time and take it off pretty quickly. But I put it on, was called away, and let it set for a couple of hours. It came off much more easily and left a durable, glass-hard shine. It is “bug season” in Florida right now, and the smashed bugs slide off with the swipe of a microfibre cloth. So I am going to let it set longer the next time around.

If you’re considering this product my advice to you is buy it.. Be sure to use just like the directions say..

The product is much harder to apply than LG, but just do in small sections or you will get swirls that don’t come off easily. Don’t let it dry haze either. That is the only secret.
Durability is solid and slick. I hand wash with a few drops of car soap. Bugs and such come off fairly with easy.
Can’t go too wrong with this stuff at all. Can use on glass, we , boat hull, etc too. .

Purchased this a while back and just got around to adding a single coat. So far, so good. Like Liquid Glass, it was easy to put on and take off. No idea if it’s the same formulation but I’ll reserve full judgment for after it has baked and added a few miles.

All I can say is, follow the instructions. I figured it what I had put on didn’t come to a haze so I continued on. Boy, that was a mistake. It was difficult to remove. Tried polishing again following the directions and had perfect results. Very glossy, repels water. We’ll see how the durability holds up. Very happy for now!

Not nearly as good as the old Liquid Glass product that it seems to have replaced. Much harder to apply and remove. We’ll see if it has the same great protection. Way too expensive compared to other (better) products available.

Not the old liquid glass but close. Easy to apply and take off!

Many of us that have been into cars and car shows have used Liquid Glass for years and years. I, personally, have used Liquid Glass for over 30 years. Many were deeply disappointed when the Liquid Glass company shut down in 2018. What do you use now? After much research, I decided to try out two products… MPT Classic Polish and Finish First. For those tht don’t know, MPT used to be a part of Liquid Glass and their Classic Polish is probably the closest thing you’re going to get. The consistency is slightly more watery and the coloring is more yellow than blue, but otherwise, I couldn’t find much difference. It applies the same, smells the same, comes off the same, layers shine the same… It’s been a couple months since I applied it, so I’m still evaluating durability, but honestly, as best as I can tell, MPT Classic Polish makes a perfect replacement for Liquid Glass. It will clean stubborn tar and bug residue as it goes on and, once applied, tar and bugs wipe right off. If you’ve ever used Liquid Glass, you know what I’m talking about. In the picture I provided, I had a can of Liquid Glass in my garage… brand new… my last one. When I bought the Charger, I opened it and applied 7 coats of Liquid Glass to the Charger. The Jeep then became my test bed for the MPT and the Finish First. Everything forward of and including the front doors of the Jeep is 7 coats of MPT and everything to the rear and including the back doors of the Jeep is 7 coats of Finish First. The Jeep is about 4 years old and is closing on 90K miles. I see a lot of people choosing Finish First to replace their Liquid Glass. The only reasoning I could find, though was that Finish First comes in teh same type of can and has a Corvette n the front like Liquid Glass did. I mean, that’s great and all, but it doesn’t mean it’s the replacement for Liquid Glass. In fact, coming out in the 90s, it was a competitor of Liquid Glass for some time. That said, it is a quality product. It is blue, like Liquid Glass, though a little darker and a little thicker in texture. It does apply about the same and come off about the same. It doesn’t work quite as well cleaning stubborn tar and bugs during application, though it will clean them, you just have to rub a little harder. Again, I’m still evaluating durability. To be honest, it has so far matched point for point the MPT I’ve put on. It sheds bugs and tar once applied like Liquid Glass. I think either product is a viable replacement since you can’t get Liquid Glass anymore. To me, I felt the MPT product was almost an identical match (especially after just applying Liquid Glass and being able to compare the products directly) so it gets the tip of the hat from me. Either product, however, in my opinion will meet your expectations if, like me, you are looking for a replacement to the now unobtainable Liquid Glass. Now someone do me a favor and tell me what I can use to replace my Liquid Glass leather cleaner and leather conditioner that i can’t get anymore!
On Edit: I posted this original review over 6 months ago. I recently washed the Jeep with the intention of applying another coat. I didn’t have too. The picture I added with the water beading was after rinsing off the hood at 6 months. The MPT is still beading amazingly even after all this time! Bugs on the grill and tar around the wheel wells still wipe off with an easy pass. Paint still feels slick and smooth to the touch. I’m still extremely happy with this product and just bought another bottle. I’m also happy to see that they make a Cleanse and a Condition leather product with Mink Oil. Liquid Glass’ original leather cleaner and also their conditioner had Mink Oil and I loved it. I’m hoping this will give a similar result as well. I’ve ordered both and will give them a try soon.
