Mr.Jarvis –
Room for improvement. Good functional replacement for the 05 4R rear hatch lock actuator. However, the for the main unit was tight, and there could have been more grease added to the moving parts.
I recommend hitting it with silicone lubricant on the internal parts and adding extra white lithium grease to the locking unit.
Overall, I’m happy with the replacement and giving this a 4 out of 5. Will update a longer term review in 6+ months
Amazon Customer –
The item came very quickly, packaging was perfect, installation was easy and identical to the OEM part, and, most importantly, it worked! Very satisfied with this purchase.

Product fit and works
Francisco J. Romero –
Just installed, works great, easy install – I recommend watching Dillan’s Garage video for the install.

I could not open my back hatch on my 2004 4Runner. I had to crawl inside the back area, to remove the interior back panel and sawsall and plunge cutter out the existing lock. That took hours. After getting the rusted old gears and latch removed, I installed the new latch mechanism in about 20 minutes. no adjustments necessary. It’s been working fine for the last month. It was about 1/4 the cost of a Toyota branded latch. At this point, I would purchase it again.
R. J. Westfall –
Easy to install. Works ed for 6 months and then failed. Replaced with an OEM part instead. Don’t waste the money buying this one and go straight for the OEM.
Mr.Jarvis –
Fit as OEM
Karen Palmer –
This ended up working just like I’d hoped. Easy install, and a cheap fix compared to taking it to a mechanic or dealership.
Just one note… after install, disconnect the negative battery terminal for 30 seconds and then lock/unlock the doors 3 times from the drivers side.
