I have had consistent issues with Detroit Axle customer service. Until recently the parts have been okay but the last 3 orders I received from them had issues either broken or wrong parts.
This was purchased to help a friend being robbed by the local garage, the kit arrived in a large box 60lb which was conveniently left in front of my door for my kids to move when they got home from school (thanks amazon). It was organized neatly but not labeled at all, had to match parts as I removed them. It went together fairly smoothly, the car was smooth but had a noticeable clunk in the front right that wasn’t there before switching the strut. Upon physical inspection I was able to pull the spring back into its perch by hand, no good. Even if the strut was fine and they forgot to torque the top nut properly I wasn’t chancing a life on it.
No one answered when I called for a warranty replacement, 5 minutes on perma-hold I gave up and just had Amazon send me another kit, I replaced the strut and the noise went away and the car drives great. Trying to return the unused parts of the kit as expected, dragged on for over a week. The return label was for one 30lb box, they sent me 2 30lb boxes and refused to send me another shipping label. Then they said I was outside my return window, original order was less than a month old and the replacements were a week old. Then they said I was ineligible for a refund, which I wasn’t asking for. Then they told me to call them, no one answered again after 15 minutes on hold. Then they told me they would call me, I provided my phone number, I missed their call outside of their business hours and received a message at 12AM saying they had tried to reach me but now they see it was a warranty replacement and to keep the parts. All of their responses were 24 hours apart at weird hours, I spent almost as much time between their customer support and amazon customer support trying to return these parts as I did installing them.
The 2nd star is for the parts functioning well and the resolution being finally reached. I am still inside my return window that Amazon assures me is satisfied and I will not be charged, but they said Detroit Axle has my card info and they would be the ones making the charges. They assured me again that they will not charge me having said to keep the parts but I have my doubts.
BEWARE OF ORDERING FROM THIS COMPANY, the price is right but its a slippery slope if you have ANY issues with the parts.
