10 days in on the daily. Starts every time, sounded awful the first few starts, still doesn’t sound great but $50 is $50. will update if it fails.
Several months in and it’s excellent. Noise went away after a few weeks of use and sounds fine now. Excellent value

The starter was the correct, as ordered product which installed like original equipment. Time will tell it’s durability compared to OEM. I had to wait a couple of days to get the part which may not be possible for everyone, but I thankfully had a backup vehicle until this one could be repaired. Price was 1/3-1/2 the cost of discount automotive stores which was great.

first I bought this for my 1997 flareside ford ranger XLT with over 300,000 miles (finally replaced the original starter). it first perfectly. if you are looking here you know how awesome the ford ranger is to begin with for cost of parts and ease of replacement of them. the starter is perfectly located right at the bottom of the truck. the only thing in my way was the wires connected to it that needed removed first. installation was perfect. old one popped right out and new one seated right in there. took me about 15 mins including wire brushing the wires on the truck clean. truck fired right up so far the starter is perfect.
make sure it will work with your year and model of truck but you aren’t going to find a better price. I got this for less than half the cost of buying a refurbished one from AutoZone and I don’t have to turn in the core. buy this, its worth it, it will work

Purchased a starter for a 1999 Ford Ranger on August 16, 2023. Today is April 8, 2025 and it died today. It didn’t even last two full years?

Update 10/18/2021 – I replaced it already, but I’m not sure if it had anything to do with the starter or not. Teeth broke off of my flywheel, so it’s possible I junked it while perfectly fine, or maybe it contributed to my flywheel problem, or both, or neither. Original review below:

I put it in a ’92 Ranger with a starter I rode all the way to full seizure. Man, what a difference! It sounds like 1992 again. Local auto parts stores couldn’t do better than $120 for the same thing. This truck is a beater, that would be too much.
It’s easy to install, but any of them would be; it’s basically just three bolts.
The starter still works great after a month, and I’m sure it will last the remaining life of this truck. If not, I’ll amend my review.

I have used these inexpensive starters before and while they cost much less than name brand, do not expect to get many years from them. They fit and work just not quality components in them.
