Failed after 6 wks going to try and return it! I would not recommend buying this unit. I thought that AC Delco would be reputable but it didn’t help

I would give this zero stars if possible.
Installed on March 13th. After less than 2000 miles, this alternator overcharged and destroyed my battery on a long trip.
I was stuck in an unfamiliar town while waiting for the fix: a tow, new alternator, and new battery, plus all of the labor costs.
Save yourself the money, time, and trouble. Don’t buy this defective alternator.

It just doesn’t work. 2003 CRV with the 270k mile original alternator and squealing bearings. Decided to purchase a “used-like new” one for a bit cheaper. Install. Start the car, charging system warning light on (it wasn’t on with the original alternator). Check battery voltage, around 13.5V. A little low but charging. Check all the wiring to the alternator, no issues. Okay, maybe this “used” one was bad.
Get a replacement, this time new for full price. Install. Start the car, same warning light and battery voltage.
Decided to replace the bearings in my original alternator. Install. Start the car, no warning light and measured 14.4V. I either received two bad units or they just don’t function correctly. Either way, not worth your time.

I liked the description, and like another reviewer felt that the AC Delco brand should stand for something. It looked good coming out of the box, too – fit properly and functioned correctly. However, it only lasted about six months. The internal voltage regulator has clearly failed, as its output voltage is now all over the map. We put this on an ’05 Honda CRV. That is a bear of an installation (Honda must think the alternator will last the life of the car), so we are _not_ looking forward to doing it again. Certainly it will be another brand, next time!

Bought back in January didn’t even last 4 months and failed
