Do not buy this product and expect any type of quality, despite being a whole lot more expensive than some of the other same products out there. Packaging was inadequate to the point that Styrofoam does not fully protect the parts of the starter (connection points housed in the porcelain/bakelite can break). This may have been the issue with this unit, although no visible damage upon opening the box. Issue with this actual starter device is poor quality. Rivits that hold the bendix bolt to the actual housing are extremely thin aluminum and do not flange and hold the starter bolt adequately. Installed the starter and litteraly hand tightened the nut and half turn of the nut with 10mm ring spanner and it started to pull out. Basically had to use old starter’s bendix with this new starter main motor assembly to coble and MacGuiver together a single working starter. It was an emergency situation, otherwise I would just return for my money back and simply go buy a genuine FoMoCo (Ford Motor Company) OEM starter for 3 x the price and at least know I am not buying cheap junk (No markings, but I suspect it’s from a land far from here that does not care about quality, just good reviews and 5 star ratings.)

Very impressed with the fact that they included the diagnostic testing on a full sheet of paper describing the min/max tests, current draw, graph included. Mine also had a wire splice built into the signal wire because maybe they know the tab always breaks when removing the old one? Very nice feature, thank you. Rangers suck sometimes. It turns over faster and stronger than the original which lasted 212k miles and 17 years of hard use. Maybe I’ll get lucky, who knows. Seems great on the first few days, I’d recommend it to a friend.

Installed and worked perfectly. After maybe 2 months of use, it seems that intermittently the solenoid is not properly engaging the drive gear for the starter. It has become somewhat unreliable.

Starter only lasted a month, my car has been sitting for about a month and half trying to figure out what’s wrong with it. And of course I wasn’t thinking the starter was bad again since I just bought a brand new one. But that’s what it was. I’m trying to return it so I can get my money back and Amazon is not willing to help me out with my refund and won’t refund it. This is not fair! This is what helps me get to work!

So far the starter is working great. Only problem is no cover for the electrical connections. I had to modify the old cover to fit and then secure it with a cable tie. Also used dielectric grease on the connections to protect from corrosion. All other electrical connections under the car are protected. If you do not take this precaution, you are asking for trouble in the future from water and dirt.
