I installed this on my 2013 Highlander Limited AWD (power lift game and JBL speakers). I read some other reviews stating that these are a bit too powerful in lifting force. I took caution and only installed the strut on one side of my trunk and it seems to work very well. My old struts were not holding the trunk fully up anymore, it would sink back down and hit you on the head eventually, especially in the winter. They were very easy to install, easier than the OEM ones. just make sure to remove the pin on the ends first , slide them on and reinsert the pins. If the strut seems a bit long just push your trunk door up higher and the ball joint should go right in. Great value and so far so good.

Facile à installer et vraiment efficace. ceux d’origine manquaient de vitesse, n’ouvrait plus la porte complètement.

These are powerful it’s worth spending a little more money for these vs going cheap. The cheaper ones on Amazon hold up but was not strong enough to push the lift gate up when opening manually. These did the job and no more bumping head on lift gate.

It works like the orihinal.

The product works good. But you need to buy the adapter kit. The factory mounts don’t come off.

This product should have been an easy install, but it would not go over the stud. Apparently the receiving port on the support is smaller than the stud on the car frame and would not go on, even with some persuasion from a rubber mallet. I even tried removing the retaining clip until installed to no avail. Do not buy this product. And we again come to an Amazon problem I have encountered many times…show the country of origin! Had I known this was made in China, I would have selected a different vendor. That country’s product quality leaves much to be desired. In all fairness, I have received at least one China product that held up to reasonable standards, but not this one.
Here is an update on this review. After having returned this item, it was purchased from another source with Turkey as the country of origin. The connections were made almost exactly like the original product with the same installation issues. As it turns out, the size of the stud receivers on each end were properly sized. The problem was in the clips used to retain the product on the studs. You are not able to force the ends onto the studs without removing the clips entirely. Once the ends are easily placed on the studs, then reinsert the clips. Again, not an easy task. So the problem was not an inferior product, it is an inferior design. Toyota wanted $51 apiece for the struts. Rockauto only wanted less than $10 each. I upgraded the rating to 2 stars because it is still a problematic product, but not seemingly made inferior.
More updates. After reviewing the video for this product, the retaining clips shown in the video are not the same as the product delivered. The video shows clips identical the the original Toyota design. However the product comes with wire retaining clips which are almost impossible to apply. That is false advertising on the part of the vendor. Back to 1 star!

In order to mount these struts you must remove a tiny silver clip from either end. The clip is small and hard to hold on to and almost impossible to install when the strut is on its mounting pin. I had to unbolt the mounting point brackets install the strut on the mounting pin and reinstall on the vehicle. One strut is not enough to hold up the hatch so I had to find a board to hold up the hatch while installing them. I had just used a different brand for the rear hatch back glass and they used the same clips as the original mounting clips and they were much easier to install back in the ball head. Once installed they operate correctly. I cant tell you how many times a dropped the little silver pin that held the strut on its mounting point but it was a lot!

Fit perfect, you might need someone to help holding the trunk up but so far so good

2010 toyota highlander. Fits perfectly and very easy to install. Took me 5 mins to install both sides. It actually took me longer to take off the old struts since the old clips were so rusty.
Tip: remove the new clips completely off, position the ball mount on the mounting ball and then re-clip. Easy peasy!
EDIT:
A week since install and I have found out that the struts are so strong that they won’t allow liftgate to close and engage in lock position. I’m not sure if I can release some pressure from the struts but at this time, I must manually press the liftgate close.

Once installed, the tail gate works good as new. The gate is heavy. I used an extending painting pole to hold the gate in place while removing the worn out struts. It does help if there is another person to help reposition the gate while installing the new ones. The gate has to be positioned to the length that the strut comes because they are too strong to compress by hand. I also like the retaining clips on these. They snap right on. The gate does ‘bounce’ a bit at the top but I expect that to subside as the struts wear in.
